Reconstruction of chronic patellar tendon rupture with contralateral bone-tendon-bone autograft.
To evaluate the clinical and functional outcome following the reconstruction of chronic patellar tendon ruptures using the contralateral bone-tendon-bone (BTB) autograft. ⋯ In this limited cohort, surgical reconstruction of chronic patellar tendon ruptures using contralateral bone-tendon-bone graft was a safe and viable option that improves clinical and functional outcomes compared to presurgical function. However, despite the restoration of a normal patellar height, function did not return to preinjury level.

Posterolateral portal tibial tunnel drilling for posterior cruciate ligament reconstruction: technique and evaluation of safety and tunnel position.
To evaluate the safety for neurovascular structures and accuracy for tunnel placement of the posterolateral portal tibial tunnel drilling technique in posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) reconstruction. ⋯ The posterolateral portal tibial tunnel technique is safe relative to neurovascular structures and creates an anatomically appropriate tibial tunnel location. The clinical relevance of study is that this technique may be safely and accurately used in PCL reconstruction to decrease the risk of neurovascular damage (avoid use of a posteriorly directed pin), avoid the use of intraoperative fluoroscopy, and avoid the sharp turn during graft passage.

ReviewSurgical treatment of patellofemoral instability using trochleoplasty or MPFL reconstruction: a systematic review.
Trochleoplasty and reconstruction of the medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) are among the most commonly performed surgical treatments in patients with patellofemoral instability. The primary purpose of the study was to perform a systematic literature review on trochleoplasty in the treatment of patients with patellofemoral instability. The secondary purpose was to compare the outcomes with those seen in patients treated after reconstruction of the MPFL. ⋯ III.

Randomized Controlled TrialThe contribution of the tibial tubercle to patellar instability: analysis of tibial tubercle-trochlear groove (TT-TG) and tibial tubercle-posterior cruciate ligament (TT-PCL) distances.
The purpose of this study is to assess the reliability of measuring the tibial tubercle to posterior cruciate (TT-PCL) distance compared to the tibial tubercle to trochlear groove (TT-TG) distance on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), establish baseline TT-PCL values in patellar instability patients, and determine the predictive value of an excessive TT-PCL distance (≥24 mm) for recurrent patellar instability compared to a TT-TG distance ≥20 mm. ⋯ III.
