Comparative StudyUsing chloroprocaine for spinal anaesthesia in outpatient knee-arthroscopy results in earlier discharge and improved operating room efficiency compared to mepivacaine and prilocaine.
Knee arthroscopies are regularly carried out in an outpatient setting. The purpose of this retrospective analysis was to investigate the impact of different local anaesthetics for spinal anaesthesia on operating room efficiency (perioperative process times) and postoperative recovery. This study aims to determine the optimal LA for SPA in patients undergoing knee arthroscopy at a day-surgery centre. ⋯ III.

Bicruciate lesion biomechanics, Part 2-treatment using a simultaneous tensioning protocol: ACL fixation first is better than PCL fixation first to restore tibiofemoral orientation.
An uncommon technique for bicruciate ligament reconstruction involving simultaneous tensioning of the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) grafts with ACL graft fixation first has been pointed out as superior to the "gold-standard" PCL graft fixation first. The purpose of this study was to compare tibiofemoral biomechanics between ACL fixation first and PCL fixation first in a simultaneous tensioning protocol for bicruciate ligament reconstruction. ⋯ V therapeutic study.

The OARSI core set of performance-based measures for knee osteoarthritis is reliable but not valid and responsive.
The Osteoarthritis Research Society International has identified a core set of performance-based tests of physical function for use in people with knee osteoarthritis (OA). The core set consists of the 30-second chair stand test (30-s CST), 4 × 10 m fast-paced walk test (40 m FPWT) and a stair climb test. The aim of this study was to evaluate the reliability, validity and responsiveness of these performance-based measures to assess the ability to measure physical function in knee OA patients. ⋯ Level 1. Acute Achilles tendon rupture leads to impaired outcome at short term, but little is known concerning medium-term results. Comparative StudyInjection with autologous conditioned serum has better clinical results than eccentric training for chronic Achilles tendinopathy.
Chronic Achilles tendinopathy is one of the most common causes of malfunction and pain, which can lead to a significant reduction of the quality of life. The hypothesis of this study argues that autologous conditioned serum (i.e. Orthokine) injections in chronic midportion Achilles tendinopathy have a better outcome than eccentric training. ⋯ Therapeutic studies, Level III.
