Prompt initiation of appropriate neonatal resuscitation skills is critical for the neonate experiencing difficulty transitioning to extra-uterine life. Expertise in neonatal resuscitation is essential for personnel involved in the care of newborns, above all for midwives who are sometimes alone to initiate the first resuscitation. The use of simulation training is considered to be an indispensable tool to address these challenges, not only in continuing education but also in midwifery education. ⋯ The significant improvement in knowledge during the session and its preservation after a few months confirmed the efficacy of this teaching method. The simulation training increased the participants' perceptions of their knowledge, skills, and confidence in conducting neonatal resuscitation. These preliminary results are very encouraging and argue in favor of generalizing this teaching method. However, this training could be more profitable if it was proposed earlier in the midwifery curriculum and organized with a multidisciplinary team (pediatric and anesthesia residents).

The need for educational training of healthcare professionals in palliative care is an important issue. Training and practice of pediatric residents in the field of pediatric palliative care (PPC) has never been assessed, although the organization of the medical curriculum in France is currently being revised. ⋯ Ninety-six percent of all French pediatric residents encountered a PPC situation during their residency. That 77% of them had experienced PPC during their first year of residency shows the importance of early training in PPC for pediatric residents. Furthermore, this study points out that there is a significant lack in PPC training since 40% of all residents in the study received no specific PPC training. Progress in education remains insufficient in the dissemination of knowledge on the legal framework and concepts of palliative medicine: while the medical curriculum is being revised, we suggest that training in medical ethics and PPC should be introduced very early and systematically.

Case Reports
[Abdominal CSF pseudocyst recurrence in a 14-year-old patient with ventricular-peritoneal shunt].
Abdominal cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) pseudocyst is a rare complication of ventricular-peritoneal shunt (VPS) but needs to be considered in every patient with abdominal complaints or signs of intracranial hypertension (IH). The pathogenesis of pseudocysts remains unclear. Diverse predisposing factors have been proposed such as previous abdominal surgeries, multiple VPS revisions, infections, history of necrotizing enterocolitis, and nonspecific inflammatory processes. ⋯ If there is no direct sign of infection, only the distal catheter is externalized and antibiotics are introduced until infection is treated. Depending on the peritoneal absorption state, the distal catheter is replaced in the abdominal cavity or in the atrium, the pleural space or the gallbladder if there is no suitable place for repositioning. If the peritoneal state allows it, a laparoscopic procedure is recommended to avoid peritoneal adhesion formation increasing the recurrence rate of CSF pseudocyst.
