[Metered-dose inhaler with spacer vs nebulization for severe and potentially severe acute asthma treatment in the pediatric emergency department].
To compare treatment with beta 2 agonist delivered either by a spacer device or a nebulizer in children with severe or potentially severe acute asthma. ⋯ The administration of beta 2 agonist using a metered-dose inhaler with spacer is an effective alternative to nebulizers for the treatment of children with severe or potentially severe acute asthma in the emergency department. Time gained can be used for asthma education.

[Analgesic effects of Emla cream and saccharose solution for subcutaneous injections in preterm newborns: a prospective study of 265 injections].
To compare the analgesic effects of non nutritive pacifier sucking, oral administration of a 30% saccharose solution, local application of Emla and their association for subcutaneous injection of erythropoietin (EPO) in preterm infants. ⋯ This study shows that the association of non nutritive pacifier sucking with oral administration of saccharose and local application of Emla has a better analgesic effect than each of these three interventions alone for subcutaneous injection of EPO.

[Comparative study of nebulized sambutol against placebo in the acute phase of bronchiolitis in 33 infants aged 1 to 6 months].
The therapeutic role of bronchodilators in bronchiolitis remains controversial. The aim of this study is to evaluate the safety and the clinical response to nebulized salbutamol in infants with mild acute bronchiolitis. ⋯ Salbutamol is safe and effective in relieving the respiratory distress of young infants with acute bronchiolitis. Our study confirms previous observations that infants younger than six months of age respond as well as older children when given three doses of nebulized salbutamol. Responders could not be differentiated from non responders by personal or family histories of atopy and VRS isolation. A longitudinal study could establish a correlation between response to bronchodilator therapy and later development of asthma.
