It is unclear whether multiple respiratory viral infections are associated with more severe bronchiolitis requiring pediatric intensive care unit (PICU) admission. We aimed to identify the association between multiple respiratory viral infections and PICU admission among infants with bronchiolitis. ⋯ Infants with multiviral bronchiolitis have higher odds of PICU admission compared with those with a single or nondetectable viral infection.

Case Reports
Ipsilateral open anterior hip dislocation and avulsion fracture of the greater trochanter: An unusual case report.
Approximately 3% of all joint dislocations involve the hip joint, and only 8-10% of these will be anterior. Traumatic anterior open dislocation of the hip is rare in children and prone to be associated with injuries, extensive soft tissue damage, and avascular necrosis of the femoral head. ⋯ Additional lesions included a diaphyseal closed fracture of the contralateral femur. We report this case because of the rarity and seriousness of this injury due to its progressive complications and difficulties related to its management.

The use of extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) in France has increased since the H1N1 pandemic in 2009. By contrast, neonatal and pediatric ECMO support in France was known to be limited to a few centers offering congenital cardiac surgery. The purpose of this survey conducted in 2017 was to identify the neonatal and pediatric ECMO centers in France as well as networks existing between ECMO and non-ECMO centers. ⋯ Of the centers reporting the highest case volumes, four offered mobile ECMO abilities. Well-organized networks for the most severe neonates and children were not identified in France.

Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is characterized by inflammatory lesions containing abundant CD1a+ CD207+ histiocytes that lead to the destruction of affected tissues. This disease has a remarkable pleiotropic clinical presentation and most commonly affects young children. Although the current mortality rate is very low for childhood LCH patients (<2%), reactivation frequently occurs after a long period of disease control and the rates of permanent complications and sequelae remain high. ⋯ Quantification of the plasmatic BRAFV600E load for this group of patients can precisely monitor response to therapy. Finally, targeted therapies, such as BRAF inhibitors, are new therapeutic options especially designed for refractory multisystemic LCH involving risk organs. However, the long-term efficacy, long-term tolerance, optimal protocol scheme, and appropriate modalities of administration for these innovative therapies for children still need to be defined, a huge challenge.

Burns are among the most frequent injuries in children. They are a major cause of morbidity and mortality in low- and middle-income countries. This study aimed to describe the epidemiological aspects of burns in this environment and to propose preventive measures. ⋯ The lack of specialized burn centers in Tunisia associated with the low socioeconomic level of our population worsened the outcome of pediatric burns. The best solution lies in prevention.
