Mediastinal mature teratomas are rare in children. Diagnosis is often made in the presence of a complication. We report a case of a mature mediastinal teratoma, complicated by its opening in the lung. ⋯ The CT scans and MRI aided in establishing the diagnosis. Biological tests (alpha-foetoproteins and beta-HCG) confirmed the benignity of the tumor. The child was operated on with full success.

To analyze hospital treatment of infants with acute gastroenteritis, especially the variations in modes of rehydration, hospitalization rates and lengths of stay, related to paediatrician permanency with a short-stay observation unit at their disposal. ⋯ Our findings suggest that a paediatric permanency with a short-stay observation unit at their disposal improves quality of treatment and is cost-effective.

A ten-month-old boy presented with a severe auto-immune hemolytic anemia. Direct antiglobin test was positive only for IgA class autoantibodies. He recovered with a high dose corticosteroid treatment. ⋯ IgA class autoantibodies should be searched for in the case of a high suspicion of auto-immune hemolytic anemia with negative direct antiglobin test for IgG and complement. Corticosteroid treatment is most often successful.
