Case ReportsDasatinib-induced nephrotic syndrome: a case of phenoconversion.
We present the case of a 33-year-old chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) female patient, in whom the occurrence of nephrotic syndrome, during the treatment with tyrosine kinase activity inhibitors (TKIs), was potentially influenced by transient phenoconversion. Seven years after the CML diagnosis in 2004 and complete response, the patient experienced pain in the mandible and extremities. After this, imatinib was replaced by nilotinib, but generalized maculopapular rash was presented and successfully treated with antihistamines. ⋯ A possible explanation would be CYP3A4 EM genotype coding a poor metabolizer enzyme phenotype, leading to the drug accumulation in the patient's blood. This transient phenoconversion can be explained by inflammation with elevated ESR during nephrotic syndrome. This case shows that a broader approach that recognizes genetic, clinical, and epigenomic factors is required for a quality decision on the personalized therapy regimen.

Randomized Controlled TrialInfluence of oxygen enriched gases during decompression on bubble formation and endothelial function in self-contained underwater breathing apparatus diving: a randomized controlled study.
To assess the effect of air, gas mixture composed of 50% nitrogen and 50% oxygen (nitrox 50), or gas mixture composed of 1% nitrogen and 99% oxygen (nitrox 99) on bubble formation and vascular/endothelial function during decompression after self-contained underwater breathing apparatus diving. ⋯ Nitrox 99 reduced bubble formation, did not change post-dive FMD, and decreased total dive duration, indicating that it might better preserve endothelial function compared with air and nitrox 50 dive protocols.

Comparative StudySex estimation of the sternum by automatic image processing of multi-slice computed tomography images in a Croatian population sample: a retrospective study.
To determine the sexual dimorphism of the sternum with standard measurements in a contemporary Croatian population sample using multi-slice computed tomography (MSCT) and to compare the data obtained by an automatic with those obtained by a manual approach. ⋯ Sternal measurements are a reliable sex indicator and can be used in forensic casework. Computer-aided measurement methods can accelerate sex estimation and improve its precision and accuracy.

Multiple genetic analyses to investigate the polymorphisms of Chinese Mongolian population with an efficient short tandem repeat panel.
To determine allele frequencies and forensic statistics of 22 autosomal short tandem repeat loci in Chinese Mongolian population. ⋯ The combined application of these 22 loci could be useful for forensic purposes in the Mongolian population. Mongolian population had smaller genetic distances from the populations in northern China (Northern Han, Xinjiang Uygur, and Xinjiang Hui) than from the populations in Hainan province (Hainan Han and Hainan Li populations).
