Patterns of anticoagulation therapy in atrial fibrillation: results from a large real-life single-center registry.
To investigate the differences in the characteristics and clinical outcomes of recently diagnosed patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) receiving different types of anticoagulants in a real-life setting. ⋯ Warfarin and DOACs are administered to different target populations, possibly due to socio-economic reasons. Patients receiving warfarin rarely obtain optimal dosing control, and experience significantly shorter survival compared with patients receiving DOACs.

Kallikrein gene family as biomarkers for recurrent prostate cancer.
To assess kallikrein (KLK) expression in recurrent and non-recurrent prostate tumors and adjacent healthy prostate tissues. ⋯ This study for the first time showed a difference in the expression levels of the KLK gene family in recurrent prostate cancer. KLKs could be used as recurrence markers for prostate cancer.

Clinical characteristics of hospitalized adults and adolescents with herpes zoster in Croatia: more than 20 years of a single-center experience.
To evaluate the clinical characteristics of adult and adolescent Croatian patients hospitalized for herpes zoster over a period of 21 years in the largest national center for infectious diseases (catchment area approximately 25% of the Croatian population). ⋯ The patients most frequently hospitalized for herpes zoster are elderly people burdened with comorbidities, not necessarily patients with complicated forms of the disease.
