Improvement in the outcomes of mantle cell lymphoma in the last decade: a real-life non interventional study of the Croatian Cooperative Group for Hematologic Diseases.
To compare the outcomes of Croatian patients with mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) who started treatment in 2007 and 2008 (historical cohort) and of those who started treatment between 2015 and 2017 (recent cohort). ⋯ In the last decade, the outcome of newly diagnosed MCL patients improved. ASCT in the first remission was the main contributor in transplantable patients and BR in non-transplantable. Regularly updated national guidelines may help in a timely adoption of new treatments, thus improving the results.

Evaluation of colon mucosa using screening colonoscopy and flexible spectral imaging color enhancement in patients with long lasting ulcerative colitis.
To determine which flexible spectral imaging color enhancement (FICE) channel best visualizes colon mucosa in ulcerative colitis (UC) and to compare FICE imaging with standard imaging. ⋯ FICE was not significantly better at dysplasia screening than the standard procedure, but it effectively detected diminutive polyps and evaluated surface patterns without using magnification. FICE might contribute to the assessment of inflammation severity in patients with UC in clinical remission. However, more extensive studies are necessary to confirm these findings.

Randomized Controlled Trial Observational StudyThe effect of standard-dose wintertime vitamin D supplementation on influenza infection in immunized nursing home elderly residents.
To investigate whether three-month oral vitamin D supplementation (800 IU in drops) reduces the risk of influenza infection in elderly nursing home residents vaccinated against influenza. ⋯ Elderly nursing home residents in Zagreb County have a significant vitamin D deficiency. The recommended national supplementation of 800 IU daily failed to lead to vitamin D sufficiency and did not reduce the risk of influenza infection among the vaccinated elderly.

Diagnostic validation of two SARS-CoV-2 immunochromatographic tests in Slovenian and Croatian hospitals.
To diagnostically validate two point-of-care (POC) rapid antigen tests for SARS-CoV-2 by comparing their results with those of laboratory-based real-time polymerase chain reaction tests (RT-PCR). ⋯ The antigen tests are practical and reliable screening assays for SARS CoV-2 in emergency care departments. Both antigen tests can be used as screening tests to reduce the number of patients waiting for RT-PCR results. Even more, they can be used to quickly isolate COVID-19 patients and reduce hospital transmissions.

Case ReportsNecrotic ulcerative stomatitis in a patient with long-standing celiac disease: a case report.
Celiac disease is the most common chronic gastroenterological disease. One of the extraintestinal manifestations of this multifaceted disease are changes in the oral mucosa. However, ulceration leading to the destruction of the soft and hard tissues of the orofacial region has not been reported so far. ⋯ The resulting defect required plastic reconstructive surgery. We successfully compensated for the defect by applying a combination of two flaps from the remaining tissue of the lower lip. Oral competence was established immediately after the operation, and a very good esthetic appearance two months later.
