Randomized Controlled TrialAnterior quadratus lumborum block for ambulatory laparoscopic cholecystectomy: a randomized controlled trial.
To explore the effects of an anterior quadratus lumborum block (QLB) on opioid consumption, pain, nausea, and vomiting (PONV) after ambulatory laparoscopic cholecystectomy. ⋯ Preoperative anterior QLB for laparoscopic cholecystectomy did not affect postoperative opioid requirements and pain. However, anterior QLB may decrease PONV.

B regulatory cells and monocyte subpopulations in patients with chronic graft-vs-host disease.
To assess the correlations of B regulatory cells (Bregs) and monocyte subsets in peripheral blood with the National Institutes of Health (NIH)-consensus-defined clinical manifestations of chronic graft-vs-host disease (cGvHD), in an attempt to establish their role as cellular biomarkers. ⋯ Different organs affected by cGVHD are differently associated with different subpopulations of Bregs and monocytes.

Crude annual incidence rate of medullary thyroid cancer and RET mutation frequency.
To determine the frequency and type of RET mutation in Slovenian medullary thyroid cancer (MTC) patients and estimate the crude annual incidence of MTC in Slovenia. ⋯ Annual incidence increase and nation-specific frequency of RET mutations justify the future use of genetic counseling and testing of MTC patients in Slovenia.

To assess the differences in the way how Slovenian and Croatian health care professionals (HCPs) confront ethical dilemmas and perceive the role of hospital ethics committees (HECs). ⋯ Croatian and Slovenian HCPs are confronted with different ethical dilemmas and perceive the role of HECs differently.
