Background and objectives: The histological classification and staging of thymic tumors remains a matter of debate. The correlation of computed tomography (CT) parameters with tumor histology and stage also still has to be completely assessed. The aim of this study was therefore to analyze the correlation of radiological parameters with histological and staging classifications of thymomas evaluating their prognostic role. ⋯ A larger tumor volume (p = 0.03) and a greater length of pleural contact (p = 0.04) adversely influenced DFS. The presence of pleural (p < 0.001) or lung invasion (p = 0.02) and of pleural effusion (p = 0.004) was associated with a significantly worse OS. Conclusions: Pre-operative CT scan parameters correlate with stage and histology, and have a prognostic role in surgically treated thymomas.

Background and objectives: The presence of mental health problems in the population of medical students in Italy has been evaluated in several cross-sectional studies, which have used different methodologies and study designs. However, a global overview of the prevalence of mental health problems in Italian medical students is not available, although this would be essential for promoting preventive strategies and supportive treatments. Materials and Methods: An integrative review aiming to describe the prevalence of mental health problems in Italian medical students has been performed. ⋯ Italian medical students show a high rate of smoking and of depressive symptoms of about 20%. Conclusions: Our findings highlight the need to develop appropriate supportive interventions for the medical student population, which are rarely provided and implemented among the routine activities of Italian medical universities. A relevant aspect to be considered is the stigma and anticipated discrimination attached to mental disorders, which reduce the help-seeking process in medical students.

The combination of immune checkpoint inhibitors and definitive radiotherapy is investigated for the multimodal treatment of cisplatin non-eligible locally advanced head and neck cancers (HNC). In the case of recurrent and metastatic HNC, immunotherapy has shown benefit over the EXTREME protocol, being already considered the standard treatment. One of the biggest challenges of multimodal treatment is to establish the optimal therapy sequence so that the synergistic effect is maximal. ⋯ In this case, the tumor target volume can include even the tumor microenvironment or a partial volume of the primary tumor or metastasis, not all the gross and microscopic disease. Tumoricidal biologically equivalent dose (BED) may be completely different from the currently estimated values, radiotherapy treating the tumor in this case indirectly by boosting the immune response. Thus, the clinical target volume (CTV) can be replaced with a new immunological-clinical target volume (ICTV) for patients who benefit from the RT-IT association (Image 1).

Review Meta Analysis
The Effect of Heat Shock Protein 90 Inhibitor on Pain in Cancer Patients: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
Heat shock protein 90 (Hsp90) is a molecular chaperone that plays an essential role in tumor growth. Numerous Hsp90 inhibitors have been discovered and tested in preclinical and clinical trials. Recently, several preclinical studies have demonstrated that Hsp90 inhibitors could modulate pain sensitization. ⋯ The meta-analysis showed that Hsp90 inhibitors increased the risk of abdominal pain significantly and appeared to increase the risk for back pain. In conclusion, Hsp90 inhibitor treatment could potentially increase the risk of pain. However, the meta-analysis demonstrated only moderate evidence for the connection between Hsp90 inhibitor and pain.

Background and Objectives: This study investigated the effects of prolonged sitting on trunk muscular fatigue and discomfort in participants with and without chronic lower back pain (LBP). Material and Methods: This study included 15 patients with LBP and 15 healthy controls. All participants were instructed to sit on a height-adjustable chair with their knee and hip joints bent at 90° for 30 min, in slumped sitting postures. ⋯ Result: There were no significant differences within the group and between both groups in the median frequency of bilateral IO and MF muscles. The LBP group showed significantly greater perceived discomfort after prolonged sitting, as compared to the control group. Conclusions: Prolonged sitting with slumped posture could increase the risk of experiencing lower back discomfort.
