Background and Objectives: Breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer in women worldwide. Lebanon is a developing country in the Middle East with a prominent breast cancer incidence. The aim of our study was to explore the incidence rates of breast cancer in Lebanon from 2005 to 2015, and compare them to the rates of other countries. ⋯ Lebanon had the highest breast cancer ASR(w), when compared to other regional countries, and trailed only behind Denmark, when compared to selected countries from different parts of the world. Conclusions: Breast cancer incidence in Lebanon is among the highest in the world. Future studies should focus on exploring the genetic profile of the Lebanese population in an aim to extrapolate proper prevention guidelines.

This study aims to identify reasons for unscheduled return visits (URVs), and risk factors for diagnostic errors leading to URVs, with comparisons to data from a similar study conducted in the same institution 9 years ago. ⋯ Presenting complaints of neurological deficits, abdominal pain, fever, and discharge without follow-up were associated with wrong or delayed diagnoses among URVs.

Randomized Controlled Trial
High-Intensity Acute Exercise and Directed Forgetting on Memory Function.
Despite accumulating research demonstrating that acute exercise may enhance memory function, very little research has evaluated whether acute exercise can effectuate intentional directed forgetting (DF), an adaptative strategy to facilitate subsequent memory performance. ⋯ This study demonstrates a directed forgetting effect in that cueing an individual to forget a previously encoded list of items facilitates memory performance on a subsequent list of items. However, we failed to demonstrate any beneficial effect of acute exercise in facilitating directed forgetting. These findings are discussed in the context of directed forgetting theories, particularly the attention inhibition mechanism, as well as the timing of the acute bout of exercise.

Background and objectives: Supracondylar humerus fractures are common in children andcan be surgically treated. However, the general surgical procedures involving reduction andfixation might lead to reduction loss, failure to direct the Kirschner (K)-wire toward the desiredposition, prolonged surgery, or chondral damage. This study aimed to show that temporaryfixation of closed reduction with a fabric adhesive bandage in pediatric supracondylar humerusfractures could maintain reduction so that surgical treatment can be easily performed by a singlephysician. ⋯ Functional (according to Flynn criteria) and cosmetic outcomes wereexcellent in 95.6%, moderate in 2.2%, and poor in 2.2% of patients. The mean duration of fixation ofthe closed reduction with a fabric adhesive bandage was 8.1 ± 3.9 min, and the mean duration ofpinning was 7.9 ± 1.4 min. Conclusions: Temporary preoperative fixation of supracondylar humerusfractures that require surgical treatment with a fabric adhesive bandage may be significantlyconvenient in practice.

Background and Objective: The objective of this study was to evaluate the potential independent and interactive effects of handedness and grip strength on episodic memory function, and whether biological sex moderated these relationships. Materials and Methods: 162 young adults (Mage = 20.7 years) completed a series of memory assessments including a subjective memory complaint evaluation and several objective measures of memory. Handedness (i.e., left-hand dominant, inconsistent handedness (ICH), and right-hand dominant) was evaluated using the Edinburgh Handedness Inventory. ⋯ Higher grip strength was statistically significantly associated with fewer retrospective memory complaints (b = 0.10, 95% CI: 0.01, 0.19, p = 0.04). Conclusions: The present study provides some suggestive evidence that ICH (inconsistent handedness) and greater grip strength are associated with fewer retrospective memory complaints. However, we did not observe any evidence of an interaction effect of handedness and grip strength on memory, and similarly, biological sex did not interact with these parameters to influence memory.
