High-sensitivity C-reactive protein in chronic low back pain with vertebral end-plate Modic signal changes.
To assess high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) level as a measure of low-grade inflammation in relation to Modic vertebral end-plate marrow signal change on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in patients with chronic low back pain. ⋯ Low-grade inflammation indicated by high serum hsCRP level in patients with chronic low back pain could point to Modic I signal changes. This result could help physicians predict the patients with Modic I signals to more precisely prescribe the correct imaging procedure and local antiinflammatory treatment in such patients.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyEconomic evaluation of a rehabilitation program integrating exercise, self-management, and active coping strategies for chronic knee pain.
To conduct an economic evaluation of the Enabling Self-Management and Coping with Arthritic Knee Pain through Exercise (ESCAPE-knee pain) program. ⋯ Provision of ESCAPE-knee pain had small cost implications, but it was more likely to be cost-effective in improving function than usual primary care. Group rehabilitation reduces costs without compromising clinical effectiveness, increasing probability of cost-effectiveness.

Development of a preliminary scleroderma gastrointestinal tract 1.0 quality of life instrument.
Gastrointestinal tract (GIT) involvement occurs in approximately 90% of patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc) and has a major impact on health-related quality of life (HRQOL). We developed an HRQOL instrument for persons with SSc. ⋯ The results support the reliability and validity of the SSC-GIT 1.0 as a measure of SSc GIT involvement. Further research is needed to examine the ability to detect change over time and define minimally important differences.
