Pneumatoceles can develop as a complication of pneumonia. Air accumulation inside pneumatoceles can produce a pressure effect on surrounding structures. ⋯ The condition was successfully treated with computed tomography-guided percutaneous catheter placement using a pigtail catheter for decompression. A stepwise approach was adopted for removal of the catheter.

Currently, no reference or normative values for spirometry based on a randomly selected Canadian population exist. ⋯ These spirometry reference equations, derived from randomly selected population-based cohorts with stringently monitored lung function measurements, provide data currently lacking in Canada.
