Soy protein and isoflavone effects on vasomotor symptoms in peri- and postmenopausal women: the Soy Estrogen Alternative Study.
To investigate the efficacy of dietary soy proteins containing differing amounts of isoflavones on the number and severity of vasomotor symptoms (hot flashes and night sweats) in peri- and postmenopausal women. ⋯ These data suggest that soy protein containing 42 or 58 mg of isoflavones is no more effective than isoflavone-extracted soy protein for improving the number and severity of vasomotor symptoms in peri- and postmenopausal women.

Role of progestogen in hormone therapy for postmenopausal women: position statement of The North American Menopause Society.
To create an evidence-based position statement regarding the role of progestogen in postmenopausal hormone therapy (estrogen plus a progestogen, or EPT) for the management of menopause-related symptoms. ⋯ Progestogen should be added to ET for all postmenopausal women with an intact uterus to prevent the elevated risk of estrogen-induced endometrial hyperplasia and adenocarcinoma. There is no consensus on a preferred regimen for all women. By changing the progestogen type, route, or regimen, clinicians can individualize therapy to minimize side effects, especially uterine bleeding, and limit any effects on ET benefits while providing adequate endometrial protection.
