Approaches and Postoperative Complications of Artery-First Pancreaticoduodenectomy in a Tertiary Care Hospital in Nepal: A Descriptive Cross-sectional Study.
Superior mesenteric artery first pancreaticoduodenectomy is being increasingly used for pancreatic head and peri-ampullary tumors. The aim of our study was to determine the frequency of various approaches of superior mesenteric artery pancreaticoduodenectomy along with its postoperative complications in a tertiary care center. ⋯ Superior mesenteric artery first pancreaticoduodenectomy with a different approach can be performed with acceptable morbidity and mortality. Early determination of resectibility is achieved in selected cases.

Research and Medical Students: Some Notable Contributions Made in History.
The practice of medicine has started since the existence of humankind on the earth. But the commencement of scientific and evidence-based medicine cannot be traced back so far. The insight we are getting from the current medical science is the output of the laborious effort and contributions made by people before us. ⋯ The countless researches conducted in various aspects of medical science prove to be strong evidence of our past achievements. Many people's contribution to such research activities in the medical field has taken us this far in modern medicine. In the pool of such people, medical students who are in the early phase of pursuing their career in medicine have also contributed a lot to medical research time and again.

Case ReportsSuccess of Using Iodopovidone as a Sclerosing Agent for Chemical Pleurodesis in a Tertiary Care Center: A Descriptive Cross-Sectional Study.
Pleurodesis is a procedure to achieve symphysis between the two layers of pleura aimed at preventing the accumulation of either air or fluid in the pleural space. In Nepal, intrapleural instillation of the chemical sclerosing agent is more commonly done as thoracoscopy facility is not easily available. However, iodopovidone is rarely used for this purpose in Nepal. The study aims to find the prevalence of success using iodopovidone as the chemical sclerosing agent. ⋯ This study highlights the safety and ease of use of iodopovidone as an agent for chemical pleurodesis. It confirms the high rate of success of pleurodesis in cases of pneumothorax as found in other studies. In contrast, the success rate is understandably lower in cases of Malignant Pleural effusion.

Case ReportsToxoplasma gondii Pneumonia in an Immunocompetent Host: A Case Report.
Toxoplasmosis is an infection caused by the intracellular protozoan Toxoplasma gondii. An acute infection caused by the protozoan is usually asymptomatic but some patients may go into a complicated course. Though it is a common pathogen of immunocompromised states as HIV AIDS, rarely it may present in an immunocompetent host as pneumonia. ⋯ Toxoplasma pneumonia was diagnosed by clinico-radiological and immunological methods. The patient was treated with a specific antimicrobial agent. A high degree of suspicion for the diagnosis and initiation of specific therapy can be lifesaving to the patient that might be rewarding to the treating physicians.
