Case ReportsLissencephaly with Congenital Hypothyroidism: A Case Report.
Lissencephaly is a malformation of cortical development associated with deficient neuronal migration and abnormal formation of cerebral convolutions or gyri. The lissencephaly spectrum consists of agyria, pachygyria, and subcortical band heterotopia. At least 19 genes have been identified in the causation of lissencephaly and related syndrome. Lissencephaly is associated with many other congenital disorders but the association of lissencephaly with congenital hypothyroidism is rarely reported. We report a case of a 10-year-old girl having lissencephaly with congenital hypothyroidism. Early diagnosis of lissencephaly and genetic counselling can be made in suspected cases and further possible interventions can be taken. Also, regular follow-up, monitoring, and better conservative management lead to a better prognosis. ⋯ congenital abnormalities; hypothyroidism; lissencephaly; neuronal migration disorders.

Hyponatremia in Patients Admitted to Intensive Care Unit of a Tertiary Center: A Descriptive Cross-sectional Study.
Hyponatremia is one of the common electrolyte abnormalities in intensive care unit settings. Hyponatremia may lead to an increased hospital stay, morbidity and mortality. Hyponatremia can occur due to a variety of iatrogenic as well as part of complex disease processes during hospital admission. The objective of this study was to find the prevalence of hyponatremia in patients admitted to the intensive care unit of a tertiary care centre. ⋯ cross-sectional study; prevalence; sodium.

Abruptio Placenta among Pregnant Women Admitted to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in a Tertiary Care Centre: A Descriptive Cross-sectional Study.
Abruptio placenta is the complete or partial separation of the normally implanted placenta before delivery of the foetus. It is one of the commonest causes of antepartum haemorrhage affecting maternal and foetal outcomes. Early detection and timely intervention of abruptio placenta in daily clinical practice are important to improve maternal and perinatal outcomes. The objective of the study was to find out the prevalence of abruptio placenta among the pregnant women admitted to the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology in a tertiary care centre. ⋯ abruptio placenta; epidemiology; fetal outcome; incidence; maternal outcome.

Multiple Pregnancy among Deliveries in a Tertiary Care Center: A Descriptive Cross-sectional Study.
Multiple pregnancy is associated with increased obstetric complications as well as poor perinatal outcomes in developing countries because of the increased risk to both mother and baby. So better understanding of the risk factors is required to improve the quality of perinatal care. The aim of the study was to find out the prevalence of multiple pregnancies among deliveries in a tertiary care centre. ⋯ low birth weight; multiple pregnancy; preterm.

Atypical Pattern of the Intrahepatic Biliary Duct on Magnetic Resonance Cholangiopancreatography in a Tertiary Care Centre: A Descriptive Cross-sectional Study.
The liver possesses different patterns of intrahepatic duct confluences. Even though the typical pattern of the intrahepatic biliary duct is common, atypical variations are also frequently witnessed. The knowledge of the atypical intrahepatic biliary confluences is inevitable during hepato-biliary surgery to reduce post-operative complications. The aim of the study was to find out the prevalence of the atypical pattern of intrahepatic biliary duct pattern on magnetic resonanace cholangiopancreatography in a tertiary care centre. ⋯ bile ducts; liver; magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography.
