Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study
Running suture versus interrupted suture for vesicourethral anastomosis in retropubic radical prostatectomy: a randomized study.
To determine the feasibility of vesicourethral anastomosis using running suture during retropubic radical prostatectomy and to compare the surgical outcomes of vesicourethral anastomosis using running suture with those of the standard interrupted suture technique. ⋯ Running suture for vesicourethral anastomosis is feasible during retropubic radical prostatectomy. Furthermore, it offers better outcomes than the conventional standard interrupted suture technique, with a higher likelihood of improvement in patients' health-related quality of life.

To investigate the efficacy of combined regimen with paclitaxel, ifosfamide and nedaplatin as salvage chemotherapy in patients with cisplatin-refractory or multiple relapsed germ cell tumors. ⋯ Paclitaxel, ifosfamide and nedaplatin chemotherapy appears to be effective when used as first or second salvage treatment in advanced relapsed germ cell tumors. Even after fourth-line therapy, patients with serum tumor marker normalization might have a chance for a cure.

To evaluate the influence of prior abdominal surgery on surgical outcomes of robot-assisted radical prostatectomy in an early single center experience in Japan. ⋯ Robot-assisted radical prostatectomy appears to be a safe approach for patients with prior abdominal surgery without increasing total operative time, robotic console time, positive surgical margin or the incidence of perioperative complications.

Multicenter Study Clinical Trial
Botulinum toxin A injection for the treatment of neurogenic detrusor overactivity secondary to spinal cord injury: multi-institutional experience in Japan.
To examine the efficacy and safety of onabotulinumtoxinA (Botox) injection into the bladder wall for the treatment of neurogenic detrusor overactivity secondary to spinal cord injury in Japanese patients. ⋯ The present findings show the efficacy and tolerability of onabotulinumtoxinA injection for the treatment of neurogenic detrusor overactivity in Japanese spinal cord injury patients.

Review Meta Analysis
Addition of intrarectal local analgesia to periprostatic nerve block improves pain control for transrectal ultrasonography-guided prostate biopsy: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
To evaluate the efficacy and safety of combined intrarectal local analgesia and periprostatic nerve block versus periprostatic nerve block alone for pain control during transrectal ultrasound-guided prostate biopsy. ⋯ Combined modalities show better analgesic efficacy than periprostatic nerve block alone for transrectal ultrasound-guided prostate biopsy without increased morbidities. Among the various local analgesics, lidocaine-prilocaine cream seems to offer the best overall efficacy.
