Working closely with the IRB or colleagues who have had experience with the IRB will help junior investigators better understand the IRB submission and review process.

Case ReportsRhabdomyolysis associated with the nutritional supplement Hydroxycut.
A case of rhabdomyolysis associated with the use of Hydroxycut is reported. ⋯ An 18-year-old Caucasian man with no significant medical history developed rhabdomyolysis possibly associated with the ingestion of Hydroxycut in addition to his increased exercise regimen.

Multicenter StudyDo current antiemetic practices result in positive patient outcomes? Results of a new study.
The problem of perioperative nausea and vomiting (including postoperative and postdischarge nausea and vomiting [PONV/PDNV]) among people undergoing general anesthesia is discussed. ⋯ Increasing the adherence to guidelines and the rational use of prophylaxis based on patient stratification will reduce the incidence of PONV, as will the development of new antiemetic agents with greater efficacies and longer durations of action that can provide extended protection from nausea and vomiting throughout the 72-hour postsurgical period.

Research regarding new pharmacologic findings in regards to the treatment of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) and postdischarge nausea and vomiting (PDNV) are discussed. ⋯ Ongoing research is warranted in order to better prevent and manage PONV and PDNV.
