Comparative StudyCost comparison of drug-drug and drug-condition interactions in patients with painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy treated with pregabalin versus duloxetine.
The frequency and financial impact of potential drug-drug interactions (DDIs) and drug-condition interactions (DCIs) in patients with painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPN) treated with either pregabalin or duloxetine were compared. ⋯ Among patients with painful DPN treated with either pregabalin or duloxetine, the frequency of potential duloxetine DDIs and DCIs was substantially higher than that of pregabalin. Potential DDIs and DCIs were associated with significantly increased health care costs in duloxetine users.

Complete-block scheduling for advanced pharmacy practice experiences.
An innovative approach to meeting increased student demand for advanced pharmacy practice experiences (APPEs) is described, including lessons learned during a two-year pilot project. ⋯ Complete-block APPE scheduling is a viable model for some health systems to consider as a means of streamlining experiential education practices and helping to ensure high-quality clinical rotations for Pharm.D. students.

ReviewRoflumilast in the management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
The pharmacology, pharmacokinetics, efficacy, and safety of roflumilast-the first in a new class of agents for managing chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD)-are reviewed. ⋯ Roflumilast is a safe and effective option for controlling COPD exacerbations in a defined subset of patients for whom the available treatment alternatives are very limited.
