Randomized Controlled Trial Clinical Trial
Ciprofloxacin or tamsulosin in men with chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome: a randomized, double-blind trial.
Chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS) in men is principally defined by pain in the pelvic region lasting more than 3 months. No cause of the disease has been established, and therapies are empirical and mostly untested. Antimicrobial agents and alpha-adrenergic receptor blockers are frequently used. ⋯ Ciprofloxacin and tamsulosin did not substantially reduce symptoms in men with long-standing CP/CPPS who had at least moderate symptoms.

Review Meta Analysis
Systematic review: antihypertensive drug therapy in black patients.
Hypertension occurs more frequently and is generally more severe in black persons than in white persons, leading to excess morbidity and mortality. ⋯ Drugs differ in their efficacy for reducing blood pressure in black patients, but there is no solid evidence that efficacy for reducing morbidity and mortality outcomes differs once patients achieve the blood pressure goal.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Clinical Trial
Effectiveness of primary care-based vestibular rehabilitation for chronic dizziness.
Dizziness is a very common symptom and is usually managed in primary care. Vestibular rehabilitation for dizziness is a simple treatment that may be suitable for primary care delivery, but its effectiveness has not yet been determined. ⋯ Vestibular rehabilitation delivered by nurses in general practice improves symptoms, postural stability, and dizziness-related handicap in patients with chronic dizziness.

Multicenter Study
Breast cancer after childhood cancer: a report from the Childhood Cancer Survivor Study.
Survivors of childhood cancer are at risk for secondary breast cancer. Other than previous chest radiation therapy, risk factors for secondary breast cancer have not been established. ⋯ Survivors of childhood sarcomas and those who received chest radiation therapy are at risk for secondary breast cancer. When assessing a survivor's risk, clinicians should consider primary diagnosis, previous radiation therapy, family cancer history, and history of thyroid disease.

Randomized Controlled Trial Clinical Trial
A multimethod quality improvement intervention to improve preventive cardiovascular care: a cluster randomized trial.
Research is needed to validate effective and practical strategies for improving the provision of evidence-based medicine in primary care. ⋯ Primary care practices that use electronic medical records and receive regular performance reports can improve their adherence to clinical practice guidelines for cardiovascular disease and stroke prevention.
