Use of liver magnetic resonance imaging after standard staging abdominopelvic computed tomography to evaluate newly diagnosed colorectal cancer patients.
To investigate the impact of liver magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in staging evaluation of newly diagnosed colorectal cancer patients. ⋯ The diagnostic yield of liver MRI for hepatic metastasis was very low in newly diagnosed colorectal cancer patients who showed TSTC hepatic lesions or metastasis-negative hepatic findings on CT. Staging liver MRI is likely unnecessary for them.

Assess the impact of preoperative serum antitumor necrosis factor-α (anti-TNFα) drug levels on 30-day postoperative morbidity in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) patients. ⋯ Increasing preoperative serum anti-TNFα drug levels are associated with adverse postoperative outcomes in CD but not UC patients.

The aim of this study was to demonstrate lymphatic isolation in a model of hind limb lymph node (LN) excision, consisting of ipsilateral popliteal and inguinal LN excision and to evaluate the immunologic response to allogeneic skin transplanted onto this region of lymphatic isolation. ⋯ Lymph node excision completely interrupts lymphatic flow of the hind limb. This model of lymphatic isolation impairs the ability of the transplant recipient to acutely mount a Th1 or Th2 response to allogeneic skin transplants.

We sought to characterize the effect of postoperative complications on long-term survival after colorectal cancer (CRC) resection. ⋯ The presence of postoperative complications after CRC resection is associated with decreased long-term survival, independent of patient, disease, and treatment factors. The impact on long-term outcome is primarily driven by infectious complications, particularly severe postoperative infections.
