This study aimed at assessing outcomes after carotid endarterectomy (CEA) in dependence of center policy with respect to imaging intraoperative completion study (ICS i ) usage. ⋯ Lowest in-hospital stroke or death rates are achieved in r outine ICSicenters . While ICS i is associated with a lower perioperative risk in r outine ICSicenters , it might act as a surrogate marker for worse outcomes due to intraoperative irregularities in sporadic ICSicenters . Routine use of ICS i is advisable.

To determine whether variations in Social Vulnerability Index (SVI) are associated with disparities in colon cancer surgery and mortality. ⋯ Increased social vulnerability was associated with reduced odds of receiving surgery for early-stage colon cancer as well as increased mortality. These findings amplify the need for policy changes at the local, state, and federal level to address community-level vulnerability to improve access to surgical care and reduce mortality.

The aim of the present study was to compare long-term post-resection oncological outcomes between A-IPMN and PDAC. ⋯ PDACs have inferior survival and higher recurrence rates compared to A-IPMN in matched cohorts. Locoregional recurrence is higher in PDAC but systemic recurrence rates are comparable and constituted by their own distinctive site-specific recurrence patterns.

Biliary atresia (BA) is a rare disease and reported outcomes of surgical management, typically a Kasai portoenterostomy (KPE), vary considerably across the world. Centralization has been proposed to improve this. ⋯ There have been continued improvements in efficiency over the period of centralization with a significant reduction in time to KPE and improved CoJ following KPE. Overall survival in this disease remains >90%.
