To quantify the absolute risks of adverse fetal outcomes and maternal mortality following nonobstetric abdominopelvic surgery in pregnancy. ⋯ Absolute risks of adverse fetal outcomes after nonobstetric abdom- inopelvic surgery vary with gestational age, indication, and acuity. Pooled estimates derived here identify high-risk clinical scenarios, and can inform implementation of mitigation strategies and improve preoperative counselling.

To develop, validate, and evaluate ML algorithms for predicting MSFN. ⋯ ML algorithms trained on readily available perioperative clinical data can accurately predict the occurrence of MSFN and aid in individualized patient counseling, preoperative optimization, and surgical planning to reduce the risk of this devastating complication.

Effects of a Pragmatic Home-based Exercise Program Concurrent with Neoadjuvant Therapy on Physical Function of Patients with Pancreatic Cancer: The Pancfit Randomized Clinical Trial.
To determine the effects of a preoperative, home-based exercise program on fitness and physical function in patients with pancreatic cancer. ⋯ In this randomized trial of prescribed exercise versus enhanced usual care during neoadjuvant therapy for pancreatic cancer, a high volume of physical activity and increased exercise capacity were observed in both arms, highlighting the importance of activity among patients preparing for surgery.

Defining Benchmark Outcomes for Distal Pancreatectomy: Results of a French Multicentric Study.
Defining robust and standardized outcome references for distal pancreatectomy (DP) by using Benchmark analysis. ⋯ This large-scale study is the first benchmark analysis of DP outcomes and provides robust and standardized data. This may allow for comparisons between surgeons, centers, studies, and surgical techniques.

Disparities in the Operative Experience Between Female and Male General Surgery Residents: A Multi-Institutional Study from the US ROPE Consortium.
To examine differences in resident operative experience between male and female general surgery residents. ⋯ Female general surgery graduates performed significantly fewer cases than male graduates. Reassuringly, this gap in operative experience may be narrowing. Further interventions are warranted to promote equitable training opportunities that support and engage female residents.
