Randomized Controlled TrialEffects of Intrathecal Bupivacaine and Bupivacaine Plus Fentanyl in Elderly Patients Undergoing Total Hip Arthroplasty.
To determine and compare the clinical efficacy of spinal anesthesia with bupivacaine combined with fentanyl and bupivacaine alone in geriatric patients scheduled for total hip arthroplasty (THA). ⋯ Adding 20 μg fentanyl to a lower dose of 7.5 mg bupivacaine can provide safe and effective spinal anesthesia for THA in geriatric patients.

Comparative StudyComparison of Reproductive Hormonal Profile and Sexual Performance Satisfaction among Type-2 Diabetes Mellitus and Controls.
To evaluate reproductive hormonal profile among three groups with varying sexual performance satisfaction (erectile dysfunction) with or without type-2 diabetes (T2DM). ⋯ Sexual performance satisfaction and FAI decline with rise in HbA1c. Moreover, subjects having nephropathy or higher inflammation (qCRP) were found to have lower FAI and ED, both in controls and T2DM.

Randomized Controlled TrialComparison of the Effects of Ultrasound-guided Erector Spinae Plane Block and Wound Infiltration on Perioperative Opioid Consumption and Postoperative Pain in Thoracotomy.
To compare the effects of preoperative ultrasound-guided erector spinae plane block (ESPB) and preoperative wound infiltration on perioperative opioid consumption and postoperative pain in thoracotomy. ⋯ Compared to wound infiltration with local anesthetics, preoperative ultrasound-guided ESPB could significantly reduce perioperative opioid consumption, provide a better postoperative analgesia and reduce opioid-related adverse events in thoracotomy.

Randomized Controlled TrialComparison of the Post-Total Knee Arthroplasty Analgesic Effect of Intraoperative Periarticular Injection of Different Analgesics.
To compare post-TKA (total knee arthroplasty) analgesic effect of periarticular injection of different analgesics during surgery. ⋯ Compared with periarticular injection of compound analgesics of bupivacaine, methylprednisolone, adrenaline, morphine and normal saline during surgery, periarticular injection of compound analgesics of ropivacaine, ketorolac, adrenaline, morphine and normal saline during surgery can alleviate post-TKA pain more effectively, improve early ROM of joint knee after surgery, increase rehabilitation effect of knee joint.

Comparative StudyHand-made Extracorporeal Knotting versus Hem-o-Lok Clip for Stump Closure in Laparoscopic Appendectomy.
To compare hand-made extracorporeal knotting and hem-o-lok clip for the closure of appendix stump regarding safety, complications and cost-effectiveness. ⋯ Of 287 patients, 149 (51.9%) were female and 138 (48.1%) were male. The mean age was found 34.9 years. No statistical difference was observed between groups according to age, gender, duration of symptoms, serum leukocyte count, ASA score, operation time and hospital stay. Intraoperative findings were different between groups (p<0.05). Overall postoperative complication rate was 6.6%. No statistical difference was observed regarding complications Conclusion: Both hand-made extracorporeal knotting and hem-o-lok clips can be used for stump closure in laparoscopic appendectomy. Hand-made extracorporeal knotting is an effective, safe and costeffective method alternative to hem-o-lok clips.
