Observational StudyEffects of Preoperative Statin on the Frequency of Ventricular Fibrillation and C-Reactive Protein Level in Patients Undergoing Isolated Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting.
To investigate the effects of statin use in preoperative period on the development of ventricular fibrillation (VF) following the removal of aortic cross-clamp (ACC) and on the levels of inflammation biomarker C-reactive protein (CRP) in patients who undergo elective isolated coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). ⋯ Preoperative statin use significantly reduced VF development after the removal of ACC, and decreased postoperative CRP levels. Key Words: Coronary artery bypass grafting, Statins, Pleiotropic effect, Ventricular fibrillation, C-reactive protein.

Case ReportsFirst Fenestrated Endovascular Aortic Aneurysm Repair in Pakistan.
Fenestrated grafts form an alternative to open surgery, and are already increasingly being offered as part of the standard spectrum of treatment in developed countries. The past two decades have seen rapid developments in fenestrated endovascular aneurysm repair (fEVAR)/branched (bEVAR) expertise, to the point where the results are striking and can compete with those of conventional surgery. We here report the case of an 82-year male, who was diagnosed with an abdominal aortic aneurysm 10 years ago. ⋯ Patient remains stable and asymptomatic at 6-month follow-up. To the best of our knowledge, it is the first reported case of successful fEVAR from Pakistan. Key Words: Fenestrated grafts, Abdominal aortic aneurysm, Endovascular.

Case ReportsPeripheral Giant Cell Granuloma of Posterior Maxilla in a 9-Year Child.
Peripheral giant cell granuloma is a relatively uncommon benign reactive gingival lesion of the oral cavity. A 9-year boy presented with a painless, slow-growing, reddish-blue, soft tissue lesion on attached gingiva adjacent to maxillary right first and second premolars, which was interfering with eating. A periapical radiograph demonstrated focal alveolar bone loss and slight teeth displacement adjacent to the lesion. ⋯ There was no recurrence three months post-excision. Timely detection and excision of this lesion is important to avoid future dentoalveolar problems. Key Words: Giant cell granuloma, Benign, Peripheral, Child.

Association between Intercanine Width and Mandibular Dental Arch Forms.
A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted to investigate the association between intercanine width and the mandibular arch form in 109 dentate subjects, who visited Orthodontics Department from October 2018 to December 2019. Using Vernier caliper, the intercanine width was measured as the distance between the left and right canines on each cast with the arch form, also categorized as tapered, square or ovoid, using predefined criteria. Spearman's rank correlation demonstrated highly significant association between intercanine width and mandibular dental arch forms, with p value of 0.005. Key Words: Dentate subjects, Mandibular arch forms, Inter-canine width, Sexual dimorphism, Mandibular dental cast.

Correlation between Circulating Tumor Cells and Plasma D-dimer and Clinicopathological Characteristics of Patients with Non-small Cell Lung Cancer.
To study the relationship between circulating tumor cells (CTCs) and plasma D-dimer (D-D) and their correlation with clinicopathological characteristics of patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). ⋯ The levels of CTCs and D-D in peripheral blood of NSCLC patients are significantly correlated with clinicopathological features, and the positive CTCs and high levels of D-D may indicate the late stage of the disease and poor prognosis, and there is a correlation between the two. The combined detection of the two is of great significance in predicting the progress and poor prognosis of NSCLC patients, and can guide the clinical diagnosis and treatment. Key Words: Non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), Circulating tumor cells (CTCs), D-dimer (D-D), Clinicopathologic features.
