To determine behavioral testing after experimental tooth movement in rats and to explore the role of nociceptin/orphanin FQ and its receptor (the N/OFQ-NOP system) in pain induced by experimental tooth movement. ⋯ The N/OFQ system may have a complex regulatory function in the pain induced by tooth movement and may be related to inflammation caused by orthodontic tooth movement and periodontal damage. The specific mechanism remains to be further studied.

Current findings suggest that percutaneous vertebroplasty (PVP) is a suitable therapeutic approach for osteoporotic vertebral compression fractures (OVCFs). However, a significant minority of patients still experience residual back pain after PVP. The present retrospective study was designed to determine the risk factors for residual back pain after PVP and provides a nomogram for predicting the residual back pain after PVP. ⋯ The presence of IVC, posterior fascia oedema, blocky cement distribution, and severe paraspinal muscle degeneration were significant risk factors for residual back pain after PVP for OVCFs. Patients with OVCFs after PVP who have these risk factors should be carefully monitored for the possible development of residual back pain. We provide a nomogram for predicting the residual back pain after PVP.

To retrospectively evaluate the effectiveness of intra-articular application of Sluijter-Teixera Poisson pulsed radiofrequency (STP PRF) in knee osteoarthritis symptomatic patients with chronic pain refractory to conservative therapies. ⋯ Percutaneous, intra-articular application of STP PRF is an effective and safe technique for chronic pain reduction in patients with knee osteoarthritis. Results seem to be reproducible and long lasting with significant patient satisfaction at 12-month follow-up.

To investigate pain trends and characteristics of different facial districts in patients undergoing rapid maxillary expansion (RME) and its possible correlations with age and gender. ⋯ RME causes perception of pain in several maxillofacial areas. Pain reported during RME resulted positively correlated with age and gender of patients.
