Do the levels of tumor makers or proinflammatory cytokines in mid-trimester cervical fluid predict early-stage cervical shortening?
In the present study, we aimed to assess the biomarkers in mid-trimester cervical fluid that can predict early stage cervical shortening. ⋯ Early stage cervical shortening in mid-trimester was not associated with an increase in the levels of tumor markers or proinflammatory cytokines in cervical fluid.

Case ReportsAntepartum reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome with pre-eclampsia and reversible posterior leukoencephalopathy.
Reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome (RCVS) is characterized by severe headache and diffuse segmental constriction of the cerebral arteries that resolves spontaneously within a few months. Pregnancy is one of the precipitating factors of RCVS and most of the reported cases occurred in the post-partum period. We report a case of RCVS that occurred in a pregnant women with pre-eclampsia during her antepartum period. ⋯ The case was also complicated by severe pre-eclampsia and the patient underwent emergency cesarean section. Although her symptoms resolved rapidly, MRA revealed new lesions of arterial constriction 4 days after onset. The vasoconstriction completely resolved on MRA after 10 days and the patient was discharged without neurological sequelae.

Case ReportsTwin tubal pregnancy: A large unruptured ectopic pregnancy.
Twin ectopic pregnancy is a rare occurrence, with an estimated incidence of 1 in 20 000 spontaneous pregnancies. We describe a case of unilateral twin ectopic pregnancy in which the gravid fallopian tube showed no signs of tubal rupture despite marked tubal distension. A 25-year-old woman presented with clinical features suggestive of large right-sided tubal ectopic pregnancy. ⋯ The crown-rump length of the embryos was 2 cm. The ectopic gestation was thus unique, in that despite marked tubal distension, the trophoblastic invasion was not significant to cause tubal rupture. There may be a role for medical management based on individual gestational sac size in selected cases of twin tubal pregnancy in which there is no evidence of hemoperitoneum.

Randomized Controlled TrialGoal-directed fluid therapy may improve hemodynamic stability in parturient women under combined spinal epidural anesthesia for cesarean section and newborn well-being.
To investigate whether goal-directed fluid therapy (GDFT) with the LiDCOrapid system can reduce the incidence of maternal hypotension and improve neonatal outcome. ⋯ LiDCOrapid -guided GDFT may provide benefit to healthy parturient women and their newborns.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyRandomized controlled trial of enoxaparin versus intermittent pneumatic compression for venous thromboembolism prevention in Japanese surgical patients with gynecologic malignancy.
The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy and safety of enoxaparin and intermittent pneumatic compression (IPC) for venous thromboembolism (VTE) prevention in Japanese surgical patients with gynecologic malignancy. ⋯ Enoxaparin might have lowered the risk of VTE among surgical patients with gynecologic malignancy. Further studies are necessary to confirm this.
