Effects of postoperative analgesia on postpartum urinary retention in women undergoing cesarean delivery.
Various analgesics and administration methods are used to provide women undergoing cesarean delivery pain relief after surgery. We compared three methods of postoperative analgesia regarding the incidence of postpartum urinary retention (PUR) in primiparous women undergoing elective cesarean delivery. ⋯ Epidural analgesia with morphine was significantly associated with post-cesarean urinary retention. Nonetheless, it was not detrimental to later urinary function.

Internal iliac artery ligation for severe postpartum hemorrhage and severe hemorrhage after postpartum hysterectomy.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of internal iliac artery (IIA) ligation performed for severe postpartum hemorrhage (PPH). ⋯ IIA ligation may be an effective and safe treatment option to arrest severe PPH. This procedure may also be useful to arrest persistent hemorrhage after hysterectomy. Increased understanding of the retroperitoneal anatomy is needed to reduce the risk of intraoperative and postoperative serious complications.

Case ReportsSuccessful treatment of a heterotopic tubal pregnancy by gasless laparoscopic surgery.
Heterotopic pregnancy is a rare event and management is by either laparotomy or laparoscopic surgery to remove the extrauterine pregnancy. As there has been no report detailing the use of gasless laparoscopy for management of heterotopic pregnancy, the authors herein report a case of heterotopic pregnancy that was successfully managed by gasless laparoscopic surgery. ⋯ The intrauterine pregnancy carried to term with uneventful maternal and fetal outcomes. Thus, gasless laparoscopy can be used as an alternative method for the management of heterotopic pregnancy.

To determine the frequency of dysmenorrhea and its associated symptoms amongst a number of adolescent female students and to investigate the possible association between daily dairy product intake and dysmenorrhea. ⋯ Primary dysmenorrhea is common in young women. This study helps us to better understand the relationship between low dietary intake of dairy products and the risk of dysmenorrhea.

Limitations of internal iliac artery ligation for the reduction of intraoperative hemorrhage during cesarean hysterectomy in cases of placenta previa accreta.
Our purpose was to evaluate the effect of internal iliac ligation as a bleeding control during cesarean hysterectomy for placenta accreta. ⋯ In cases of placenta previa accreta, ligation of the internal iliac artery did not significantly contribute to hemostasis during cesarean hysterectomy.
