Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyComparison of the effects of laparoscopic hernia repair and Lichtenstein tension-free hernia repair.
To compare the effects of laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair (LIHR) and Lichtenstein tension-free inguinal hernia repair and to explore the safety and feasibility of LIHR as well as the advantages and disadvantages of these procedures. ⋯ LIHR is a safe and feasible procedure. It has significantly better effects on postoperative pains and hernia relapse than Lichtenstein tension-free hernia repair.

Transumbilical single-incision laparoscopic fundoplication: a new technique for liver retraction using cyanoacrylate.
Single-incision laparoscopic fundoplication is not widespread because of its technical difficulty. An additional stay suture or retractor is often needed for liver retraction during the procedure. Here, we share our 7 cases to demonstrate the feasibility of transumbilical single-incision laparoscopic fundoplication with a new technique for liver retraction without any stay suture or retractor. ⋯ The transumbilical single-incision laparoscopic technique in the treatment of achalaisa and hiatus hernia is feasible for an experienced laparoscope surgeon with excellent cosmetic effect. Cyanoacrylate, when used as described, offers a safe and simple solution to the problem of liver retraction, thus obviating the need for a stay suture or liver retractor.

Case ReportsSuccessful treatment of rare-earth magnet ingestion via minimally invasive techniques: a case series.
Cases of rare-earth magnet ingestions have been increasingly reported in the literature. However, these descriptions have focused on the severity of the injuries, rather than the clinical presentation and/or therapeutic approach. We report a series of eight children, ranging in age from 2 to 10 years, who ingested powerful rare-earth magnets. ⋯ All children were discharged home without complications. This case series highlights the potential dangers of rare-earth magnet ingestion in children. Our experience suggests that prompt intervention using minimally invasive approaches can lead to successful outcomes.
