Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyComparative study between single-incision and three-port laparoscopic appendectomy: a prospective randomized trial.
Single-incision laparoscopic surgery is a new procedure used to treat a variety of diseases requiring surgical intervention. The aim of this prospective comparative study is to compare the technical feasibility and safety of single-incision and three-port laparoscopic appendectomy. ⋯ Single-incision laparoscopic appendectomy is a feasible and safe procedure, even in patients with perforated appendicitis, and this procedure is even less invasive than three-port laparoscopic surgical techniques.

Comparative StudyRobotic-assisted intracorporeal anastomosis versus extracorporeal anastomosis in laparoscopic right hemicolectomy for cancer: a case control study.
Extracorporeal ileocolic anastomosis in laparoscopic right hemicolectomy for cancer has a significant risk of complications. The aim of this study is to evaluate the operative and postoperative results of hybrid right hemicolectomy with intracorporeal robotic-assisted anastomosis for adenocarcinoma of the ascending colon compared with the standard extracorporeal anastomosis in a case control study. ⋯ There are fewer anastomotic and wound complications in RG patients. Intracorporeal robotic-assisted ileocolic anastomosis allows a faster recovery compared with extracorporeal anastomosis.

Case ReportsSuccessful endoscopic band ligation of esophageal perforation by fish bone ingestion.
Acute esophageal perforations by foreign body ingestion result in complications such as mediastinitis and retropharyngeal or parapharyngeal abscesses. Because the mortality of esophageal perforation is up to 22%, immediate treatment is critical. Herein, we report a case of successful endoscopic band ligation of esophageal perforation. ⋯ Initial chest computed tomography (CT) showed pneumomediastinum and local inflammation, but follow-up CT showed improved pneumomediastinum. The patient was given oral nutrition 2 weeks after procedure, and he was discharged without any complications. This case report emphasizes for the first time the availability of immediate endoscopic band ligation for acute esophageal perforation.
