The first objective of the present study was to evaluate the tensile strength and elongation to failure of commonly used suture materials in oral surgery. As a secondary objective, it was aimed to make a comparison between two different suture techniques within the same suture materials. ⋯ The selection of the most proper suture material remains challenging for clinicians. The present study provides relevant information for clinicians to guide them in their choice of the suitable material. In this context, clinicians can benefit from the use of polydioxanone for its high tensile strength regardless of the suture technique used, whereas polytetrafluoroethylene shows a long-term stability. The strength and stability differences among suture materials and techniques need to be considered before making an informed decision.

The aims of this study were to develop a German version of the Child Perceptions Questionnaire for children aged 8 to 10 years (CPQ-G8-10), a measure of oral health-related quality of life, and to assess the instrument's reliability and validity. ⋯ These findings enable assessments of oral health-related quality of life in German speaking 8- to 10-year-old children.

Comparison between isolated and associated with codeine acetaminophen in pain control of acute apical abscess: a randomized clinical trial.
The study aimed to compare the acetaminophen administration efficacy or its combination with codeine for pain control in acute apical abscesses cases. ⋯ This paper suggests acetaminophen 1000 mg can be used for pain control in the treatment of acute apical abscess associated with systemic manifestation.

In reconstructive surgery, flap monitoring is crucial for early identification of perfusion problems. Using hyperspectral imaging (HSI), this clinical study aimed to develop a non-invasive, objective approach for perfusion monitoring of free and pedicled flaps. ⋯ HSI provides objective and non-invasive perfusion monitoring after flap transplantation in accordance to the clinical situation. With HSI, signs of deterioration can be detected hours before clinical diagnosis.
