The progression level of extracapsular spread (ECS) for cervical lymph node metastasis of oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) was previously divided into three types, and their relationships with the prognosis of patients were re-examined. ⋯ This study indicated that the progression level and tumor budding of ECS for cervical lymph node metastasis were useful prognostic factors in OSCC patients.

Prospective clinical study comparing intraligamentary anesthesia and inferior alveolar nerve block for extraction of posterior mandibular teeth.
The aim of the study was to compare the efficacy of intraligamentary anesthesia (ILA) with conventional inferior alveolar nerve block (IANB) for extraction of mandibular posterior teeth. ⋯ ILA can be recommended for routine dental extractions.

To describe the shedding profile of human herpesviruses in the saliva of renal transplant recipients. ⋯ The present findings support other longitudinal studies evaluating the relationship between oral shedding of human herpesviruses and clinical presence of active infection and renal transplant failure.

Prevalence of dental anomalies in cleft patients is higher than that in general population. The objectives of this study were to assess the prevalence of dental anomalies and their coexistence in French children with cleft and, then, to investigate the relation between the dental anomalies and the cleft type. ⋯ Early radiographic evaluation allows a comprehensive diagnosis of inside and outside cleft region anomalies, required for the multidisciplinary dental treatment.

Postoperative pain management is of utmost interest for patients undergoing orthognathic surgery. Currently, there is a lack of information regarding process and outcome parameters of postoperative pain management after bilateral sagittal split osteotomy. ⋯ Only the establishment of an ongoing monitoring of postoperative pain management can help to reduce or even avoid inadequate postoperative pain management. In accordance to the existing literature, we found inadequate postoperative pain management more widespread than thought.
