The role of gender and sexual experience in predicting adolescent condom use intentions using the theory of planned behaviour.
To examine how the prediction of condom-related cognitions, intentions, and behaviour amongst adolescents may differ according to gender and sexual experience within a theory of planned behaviour (TPB) framework. ⋯ The results suggest that interventions designed to improve adolescents' intentions to use condoms and rates of actual condom use should consider differences in gender and sexual experience.

A survey on Swiss women's preferred menstrual/withdrawal bleeding pattern over different phases of reproductive life and with use of hormonal contraception.
Today, options for bleeding-free lifestyle are actively promoted by the media, the pharmaceutical industry and health specialists. With regard to contraceptive counselling it is important to find out what women really want. ⋯ Contraceptive counsellors should be aware that women's wishes differ widely. Predictability of bleeding seems to be more important to them than postponing it.

Review Meta AnalysisAnalgesic options for placement of an intrauterine contraceptive: a meta-analysis.
Several randomised controlled trials have been published in the last few years which evaluated the efficacy of various analgesics in reducing visual analogue (VAS) pain scores during intrauterine device (IUD) placement. Their results seem to be conflicting and inconclusive. ⋯ Paracervical administration of lidocaine prior to IUD insertion reduces VAS pain scores. In view of the small number of studies assessing its efficacy further studies should confirm our findings.

Desogestrel-only contraception may reduce headache frequency and improve quality of life in women suffering from migraine.
To analyse the effects of a three-month course of progestogen-only contraception with desogestrel 75 μg on disability, headache frequency and headache intensity in migraineurs. ⋯ The majority of migraineurs experienced a clinically significant reduction in headache frequency and improvement of quality of life with use of desogestrel. Prospective randomised controlled trials are needed to substantiate our results.

Differences in prescription rates and odds ratios of antidepressant drugs in relation to individual hormonal contraceptives: a nationwide population-based study with age-specific analyses.
To examine, among young women, the association of individual hormonal contraceptives, within two broad groupings, with antidepressant therapy. ⋯ The association between use of hormonal contraceptives and antidepressant drugs varies considerably within both the combined hormonal contraceptive and the progestin-only groups.
