A trial of three non-invasive blood pressure monitors compared with invasive blood pressure assessment in atrial fibrillation and sinus rhythm.
To investigate the accuracy of three non-invasive blood pressure (BP) devices in atrial fibrillation (AF) compared with invasive arterial BP. ⋯ The MS is accurate in SR because of direct assessment of Korotkoff sounds. Non-invasive BP assessment in AF is significantly less accurate. These findings have important prognostic and therapeutic implications.

Efficacy and safety of mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists with ACEI/ARB treatment for diabetic nephropathy: A meta-analysis.
To explore the efficacy and safety of adding mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists (MRAs) to the treatment in diabetic nephropathy (DN) with ACEI/ARB. ⋯ MRAs can significantly reduce proteinuria and increase blood creatinine in DN patients under blockade of the renin-angiotensin system. The combination treatment of finerenone and ACEI/ARB runs a lower risk of hyperkalaemia than eplerenone or spironolactone.

Impact of nocturia on patients' health-related quality of life and healthcare resource utilisation compared with OAB and BPH: Results from an observational survey in European and American patients.
To evaluate the impact of nocturia on patients' quality of life and healthcare resource utilisation (HRU) compared with overactive bladder (OAB) and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). ⋯ Nocturia should be emphasised as a standalone LUTS disease with substantial patient impact. Compared with OAB and/or BPH, nocturia patients presented with a significant reduction on patients' quality of life, reduced work productivity and increased utilisation of healthcare resources.

Clinical utility and economic burden of routine serum lipase determination in the Emergency Department.
Serum lipase is a rapid and reliable laboratory test central to diagnosing acute pancreatitis (AP). Routine use in the emergency department (ED) setting for all cases of abdominal pain or as part of a standard laboratory biochemical profile may lead to unnecessary expenses. ⋯ Serum lipase is widely overutilised in the emergency setting resulting in unnecessary expenses and investigations. Evidence-based review of clinical guidelines and more restrictive testing can result in substantial cost savings and improved patient care.
