Meta AnalysisPrevalence of persistent vegetative state compared to recovery, disability, and death in subjects with severe traumatic brain injury: A meta-analysis.
The persistent vegetative state has drawn considerable attention since it is the poorest result apart from mortality in subjects with severe traumatic brain injury. This meta-analysis was performed to evaluate its prevalence compared to recovery, disability, and death 6 months post severe traumatic brain injury. ⋯ However, persistent vegetative state is the poorest result apart from mortality in subjects with severe traumatic brain injury. Its prevalence is lower than the recovery, disability, and death even in developing counties with its lower healthcare services. The prevalence was variable over time and higher in developing countries. This relationship forces us to recommend improving healthcare services to the extent that a persistent vegetative state could be avoided as much as possible.

Meta AnalysisVitamin D deficiency relation to sepsis, paediatric risk of mortality III score, need for ventilation support, length of hospital stay, and duration of mechanical ventilation in critically ill children: a meta-analysis.
Vitamin D deficiency in children is related to the augmented risk of bone illnesses, but its effect on critically ill children is still conflicting. This meta-analysis study was performed to assess the relationship between vitamin D deficiency in children and sepsis, paediatric risk of mortality III score, need for ventilation support, length of hospital stay, and duration of mechanical ventilation in critically ill children. ⋯ Vitamin D deficiency in children might have an independent relationship with higher sepsis, paediatric risk of mortality III score, length of hospital stay, and duration of mechanical ventilation. The relation was relative with a higher risk in need for ventilation support with vitamin D deficiency children. This relationship encouraged us to recommend testing vitamin D levels in all critically ill children and providing them with supplemental vitamin D as prophylaxis.

Randomized Controlled TrialComparison of pain, quality of life, lower urinary tract symptoms and sexual function between flexible and rigid cystoscopy in follow-up male patients with non muscle invasive bladder cancer: a randomized controlled cross section single blind study.
To compare pain, quality of life (QoL), sexual function and lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) between rigid (RC) and flexible cystoscopy (FC). ⋯ The results showed that the effects on pain, sexual function, QoL and LUTS of RC and FC were similar. In general, cystoscopy did not affect negatively on QoL, sexual function and LUTS of the patients.

ReviewNovel corona virus disease (COVID-19) update on epidemiology, pathogenicity, clinical course and treatments.
During the December of 2019, a series of patients with pneumonia caused by novel coronavirus; the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) corona (COV-2), that is, COVID-19. Since the first cluster of cases was reported in China on 31 December 2019 until the 28 April 2020, there were internationally reported 3'000'000 cases, in over 185 countries, and 207'265 deaths. To date, it is still not unanimously clear which effects parameters of virus and host are important for the development of severe disease course. ⋯ Oxygen supplementation is indicated to maintain peripheral blood oxygenation over 90%-96%. Advanced support systems include mechanical ventilation and extracorporeal membranous support; however, those without targeted antiviral therapy represent only temporary bridge for scarce potential restitution in patient themselves. The aim of review is to present current state of the art in epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinical course and treatment of COVID-19 patients.

Meta AnalysisSafety and Efficacy of High Power Shorter duration Ablation for Atrial Fibrillation: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
Radiofrequency ablation in patients with atrial fibrillation (AF) is effective but hampered by pulmonary veins reconnection because of insufficient lesions. High power shorter duration ablation (HPSD) was seen to increase efficacy and safety. This analysis aimed to evaluate the clinical benefits of HPSD in patients with AF. ⋯ HPSD was safe and efficient for treating AF with clear advantages of procedural features, it also showed benefits of higher first-pass PVI and reducing recurrence of atrial arrhythmias compared with the LPLD. Moreover, major complications and ETI were similar between two groups.
