Randomized Controlled TrialThe Effects of Elaeagnus angustifolia L. On Lipid and Glycemic Profiles and Cardiovascular Function in Menopausal Women: A Double-Blind, Randomized, Placebo-Controlled Study.
The reduced production of ovarian hormones is considered to be the cause of an increase in the incidence of heart disease in women after menopause. Phytoestrogens are found in various herbal sources and are considered as an alternative to hormone therapy because of structural similarity with oestrogen. Elaeagnus angustifolia L., known as Senjed in Persian, is used in Iranian traditional medicine with various medicinal properties, contains valuable compounds, including two types of phytoestrogens. The aim of the present study was to investigate the efficacy of E. angustifolia fruit on the cardiovascular function, lipid and glycaemic profiles in postmenopausal women. ⋯ E. angustifolia was somewhat effective in improving cardiovascular function and lipid profile, as well as the overall health of postmenopausal women. However, the use of isomalt and corn starch in menopausal women needs further investigation.

Randomized Controlled TrialComparison of pain, quality of life, lower urinary tract symptoms and sexual function between flexible and rigid cystoscopy in follow-up male patients with non muscle invasive bladder cancer: a randomized controlled cross section single blind study.
To compare pain, quality of life (QoL), sexual function and lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) between rigid (RC) and flexible cystoscopy (FC). ⋯ The results showed that the effects on pain, sexual function, QoL and LUTS of RC and FC were similar. In general, cystoscopy did not affect negatively on QoL, sexual function and LUTS of the patients.

Randomized Controlled TrialEffects of Perioperative Comprehensive Nursing Based on Risk Prevention for Patients with Intracranial Aneurysm.
To explore the effect of comprehensive nursing based on risk prevention in perioperative nursing of intracranial aneurysm. ⋯ Comprehensive nursing was associated with the shortness of hospitalisation time of patients, improved rescue rate, reduced occurrence of complications and infection, and improved satisfaction of patients. Thus, comprehensive nursing was regarded to exert protective effect with a promising future for clinical practice.

Randomized Controlled TrialThe Relationship between Depression and Metabolic Control Parameters in Type 2 Diabetic Patients: A Cross-sectional and Feasibility Interventional Study.
Substantial evidence supports a bidirectional relationship between diabetes and clinical depression. However, little is known about the effect of treating one condition on the control of the other. Thus, this study aimed to determine the prevalence of depression among Type II diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients and to assess the efficacy and feasibility of escitalopram treatment of depression on their metabolic control parameters. ⋯ The relationship between depression and T2DM in the context of metabolic syndrome is plausible. However, our results show that escitalopram treatment may not be associated with significant improvement in metabolic control parameters among these patients. Our study has laid the groundwork for future randomised clinical trials with larger sample size and longer follow-up.
