Review Meta AnalysisSerum lipids and the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
The role of serum lipids in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease (PD) remains unclear, and the results of previous reports remain conflicting. We aimed to conduct this systematic review and meta-analysis to identify the potential relationships of blood lipids and the pathogenesis of PD. ⋯ TG serum levels are significantly lower in PD patients, more studies are needed to further elucidate role of lipid in the PD development.

Observational StudyImplicaciones pronosticas de la Anemia en pacientes con Insuficiencia Cardiaca Aguda atendidos en Servicios de Urgencias Hospitalarios. Estudio ANEM-ICA.
The presence of anaemia leads to a worse prognosis in patients with heart failure (HF). There are few data on the impact of anaemia on mortality in patients with acute heart failure (AHF), and the studies available are mainly retrospective, and include hospitalised patients. ⋯ Anaemia is an independent predictor of mortality at 30 days and 1 year in patients with AHF attended in HEDs. It is important to study the aetiology of AHF since adequate treatment would reduce mortality.

Reliability of impulse oscillometry parameters in healthy children and in children with cystic fibrosis.
Impulse oscillometry system (IOS) is an instrument developed to evaluate the mechanical lung properties. It has been reported that to analyse the exam in a proper way it is necessary to carry out more than one measure. However, studies addressing the standardisation are still scarce. The objective was to determine within trial reliability of three measures in IOS parameters in healthy children and children with cystic fibrosis (CF). ⋯ The IOS parameters are reproducible for healthy children and CF children in three measures. However, according to the population studied, the performance of only one measure is sufficient to assess respiratory mechanics, whereas the SEM were low, except for Fres, in both groups.

Laparoscopic versus open insertion of feeding gastrostomy tube in adults with head and neck cancers: A case-matched comparative study.
Patients with head and neck cancers may require feeding tube gastrostomy (FTG) during their treatment. Surgical gastrostomy is indicated in patients who fail or unsuitable for endoscopic or radiologic FTG insertion. ⋯ Laparoscopic insertion of FTG is safe, can be performed as a day-case procedure, and is associated with shorter hospital stay compared with open surgery; it should be preferred over open surgery where local expertise exists.
