Randomized Controlled TrialEffect of Nonsurgical Spinal Decompression on Intensity of Pain and Herniated Disc Volume in Subacute Lumbar Herniated Disc.
Nonsurgical spinal decompression therapy (NSDT) is a conservative treatment for the lumbosacral herniated intervertebral disc (L-HIVD). This study aimed to evaluate the clinical effectiveness of the NSDT and change in disc volume through magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in subacute L-HIVD. ⋯ NSDT may be a suitable treatment option for conservative treatment of subacute L-HIVD.

The Impact of C-Peptide and Diabetes Mellitus on Coronary Ectasia and Effect of Coronary Ectasia and C-Peptide on Long-Term Outcomes: A Retrospective Cohort Study.
Coronary artery ectasia (CAE) is an entity frequently associated with atherosclerotic coronary artery disease (CAD) in clinical practice. Although it has common risk factors with atherosclerotic CAD in its development, the pathophysiology of CAE is not fully known and it is not seen in every CAD suggesting that different determinants may play a pivotal role in the development of CAD. This study aimed to reveal the impact of C-peptide and diabetes mellitus (DM) on CAE and the effect of C-peptide and coronary ectasia on long-term outcomes in patients who underwent coronary angiography. ⋯ Our study revealed that a high C-peptide level is an independent risk factor for CAE and that CAE and C-peptide are independent predictors for the development of MACE.

Application of the Modified Basic Life Support Training Model in Improving Community Residents' Rescue Willingness in Nantong City in China.
This study explores the application and effect of the modified basic life support training in improving the first-aid level and rescue willingness of community residents in China. ⋯ The modified BLS training model could improve the community residents' rescue willingness and skill mastery rates, enhance their first-aid skills and awareness, reduce the risk of disease transmission to a certain extent, and improve the success rate of prehospital first aid to ensure the safety of rescuers and patients.

Randomized Controlled TrialEfficacy of Exenatide Administered Twice Daily in Body Mass Index Reduction in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.
Exenatide is a glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonist that can reduce body weight. This study aimed to determine the efficacy of exenatide on body mass index (BMI) reduction in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) with differing baseline body weight, blood glucose, and atherosclerotic status and to determine if there is a correlation between BMI reduction and cardiometabolic indices in these patients. ⋯ BMI scores improved after exenatide treatment for 52 weeks in T2DM patients. Weight loss was affected by baseline body weight and blood glucose level. In addition, BMI reduction from the baseline to 52 weeks was positively correlated with baseline HbA1c, hsCRP, and SBP. Comparison of Ocular Morphological Parameters Related to Lens Position by Anterior Segment Optical Coherence Tomography and Ultrasound Biomicroscopy.
The objective is to compare parameters related to lens position measured using anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) and ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) in patients with senile cataract and perform a consistency analysis. ⋯ The correlation between AS-OCT and UBM in terms of measuring lens position-related parameters was good, but the agreement was unstable. The differences in measurement position (sitting and supine) and/or measurement methods (optics and ultrasound) may lead to variability in results.
