Effect of Glucocorticoid Administration in Intravenous Pulses on Selected Parameters of the Coagulation System.
Changes of the coagulation system are promoted by serious infectious or noninfectious diseases, surgical procedures, and exogenous substances, including drugs. This study aimed to assess the effect of methylprednisolone pulses on selected parameters of the coagulation system. ⋯ The glucocorticoids administered in the intravenous pulses of methylprednisolone shift the balance toward thromboembolic complications.

Analysis of Prevention and Treatment of Anastomotic Leakage after Sphincter-Preserving Surgery for Middle- and Low-Grade Rectal Cancer under Laparoscopy.
Anastomotic leakage is one of the most serious complications that can occur after laparoscopic-assistedsphincter-preserving surgery for middle- and low-grade rectal cancer. ⋯ Many factors can cause anastomotic leakage after this operation, and adequate perioperative preparation, meticulous operation during surgery, and careful postoperative management are key factors in preventing it.

The Influence of Parents' Background and Their Perception on the Progression of Myopia in Children.
To study the influence of parents' educational backgrounds and understanding on the progress of myopia in their offspring. ⋯ Most parents misunderstand the influence of insufficient outdoor sports time and extracurricular classes, which require extra near-vision work. Besides, for parents with low educational background and more myopic SE, their offspring had higher myopia progression and may be the key group for myopia control. Finally, parents may obtain life advice and knowledge related to preventing myopia after their children become myopic. It may be of positive significance if this process could take place before myopia onset.

Relationship between Blood Lipid Profiles and Risk of Lupus Nephritis in Children.
Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a relatively common rheumatic disease in children. The characteristics of blood lipid metabolism in children with LN are little reported. This study aimed to explore the relationship between blood lipid profiles and the risk of lupus nephritis (LN) in children. ⋯ Children with LN have significant dyslipidemia. High levels of TC, TG, LDL-C, and VLDL-C are closely related to the occurrence of pLN. Clinical attention should be paid to monitoring and managing blood lipid profiles in children with LN.
