Association of CHA2DS2-VASC Score with in-Hospital Cardiovascular Adverse Events in Patients with Acute ST-Segment Elevation Myocardial Infarction.
Acute ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) is a common clinical critical illness, and accurate, reliable, simple, and easy-to-remember tools are needed in clinical practice to quickly identify the risk of this condition in STEMI patients. This study investigates the predictive value of the admission CHA2DS2-VASc score for in-hospital MACE in STEMI patients. ⋯ The CHA2DS2-VASc score can successfully predict the occurrence of in-hospital MACE events in STEMI patients.

Association between Neutrophil Levels on Admission and All-Cause Mortality in Geriatric Patients with Hip Fractures: A Prospective Cohort Study of 2,589 Patients.
To evaluate the association between neutrophil levels and all-cause mortality in geriatric hip fractures. ⋯ Neutrophil levels are associated with mortality in geriatric hip fractures and could be considered a predictor of death risk in the long-term. This study is registered with the Chinese Clinical Trial Registry (ChiCTR) as number ChiCTR2200057323.

Respiratory Infectious Diseases and Adherence to Nonpharmacological Interventions for Overcoming COVID-19 Pandemic: A Self-Reported Study.
The aim of the study was to examine changes in the frequency of respiratory diseases during the COVID-19 pandemic and to correlate the changes with nonpharmacological interventions for overcoming the pandemic. In addition, the study explored the predictors of adherence to nonpharmacological interventions among the Jordanian public. ⋯ Implementation of nonpharmacological interventions used to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic can be applied to reduce other respiratory infections during their peak seasons.

Epidemiological Trends of Urolithiasis at the Global, Regional, and National Levels: A Population-Based Study.
Urolithiasis is common worldwide and can predispose to urinary tract infections and renal failure. We aimed to explore the global, regional, and national burden of urolithiasis between 1990 and 2019, stratified by sex, age, and sociodemographic index (SDI). ⋯ From 1990 to 2019, ASIR, ASDR, and age-standardized DALY rate of urolithiasis have decreased. Yet, particularly significant differences exist in the geographic, age, and sex distribution. Thus, medical resources should be rationally allocated and adjusted according to the geographic and demographic distribution of urolithiasis.

This study aims to evaluate the effects of bevacizumab and propranolol from the point of view of a possible antiangiogenic effect in a model of primary nasal polyp (NP) tissue culture. ⋯ Bevacizumab and propranolol exert an antiangiogenic effect on NP tissues, mainly by decreasing VEGF-A and Ang-1 expression, increasing Ang-2 expression.
