Patients' Knowledge and Information Needs about Isotretinoin Therapy Use in Jordan.
Despite being the first-line treatment for severe or moderate acne, isotretinoin has several serious side effects that necessitate the evaluation of patients' knowledge about isotretinoin side effects and its proper use. ⋯ The lack of patients' information about the potential side effects, duration of therapy, and some instructions on isotretinoin use, such as taking the medication with fatty meal and sunblock, shed the light on the necessity to prepare leaflets, educational brochures, and educational posts via social media in order to improve patients' knowledge about isotretinoin therapy and its optimal use.

Association between Stigma and Pain in Patients with Temporomandibular Disorders.
This study aims to explore the association between stigma and pain in patients with temporomandibular disorders (TMDs). ⋯ Stigma, specifically enacted stigma, was correlated to pain in patients with TMDs. Stigma was more related to psychological problems than jaw functional limitation.

Serum Endocan Levels and Subclinical Atherosclerosis in Patients with Chronic Kidney and End-Stage Renal Diseases.
HD and CKD groups had significantly higher endocan levels when compared with control group (median (IQR): 519.0 (202.3-742.0) versus 409.0 (245.3-505.3) and 273.0 (168.0-395.5) ng/L, respectively). Also, HD patients had significantly higher endocan levels when compared with CKD levels. HD patients had significantly higher carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) when compared with CKD patients (median (IQR): 0.80 (0.80-0.90) versus 0.75 (0.73-0.75) mm, p < 0.001). HD patients had significantly higher frequency of SCA when compared with CKD patients (46.7% versus 13.3%, p=0.005). Patients with SCA had significantly higher hsCRP (median (IQR): 36.5 (26.8-43.5) versus 24.0 (15.8-29.0) mg/dl) and endocan levels (697.0 (528.3-974.8) versus 222.5 (158.8-565.8) ng/L) when compared with patients without SCA. ROC curve analysis of endocan for identification of SCA in HD patients showed that at a cutoff of 380.5 ng/L, endocan has an AUC of 0.862 with a sensitivity and specificity of 92.9% and 68.7%, respectively. ⋯ Serum endocan levels are related to SCA in HD patients. In addition, it is associated with the hyperinflammatory state in those patients.

Blood Urea Nitrogen for Short-Term Prognosis in Patients with Cardiogenic Shock Complicating Acute Myocardial Infarction.
Cardiogenic shock (CS) is the leading cause of death in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Our study aimed to evaluate the short-term prognostic value of admission blood urea nitrogen (BUN) in patients with CS complicating AMI. ⋯ An admission BUN >8.95 mmol/L was robustly associated with increased short-term mortality and MACE in patients with CS after AMI. The prognostic value of BUN was superior to other renal markers and comparable to traditional markers. This easily accessible index might be promising for early risk stratification in CS patients following AMI.

Association between the Triglyceride-Glucose Index and the Risk of Large Artery Atherosclerotic Stroke.
The aim of this study is to evaluate the value of the triglyceride-glucose (TyG) index and the risk of large artery atherosclerotic (LAA) stroke. Information on general demographic and clinical characteristics, magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) examination, and blood biochemical index determination were obtained. Based on age stratification, three models to evaluate the odds ratio (OR) and the 95% confidence interval (95% CI) were employed to determine the correlation between the TyG index and the risk of LAA stroke. ⋯ The maximum Youden index for determining a high risk of LAA stroke was found at a TyG index of 4.60. The area under the ROC curve was 0.69 (95% CI: 0.646-0.742, P < 0.05), sensitivity was 78.0%, and specificity was 63.4%. An elevated TyG index was remarkably associated with a high risk of LAA stroke.
