Meta AnalysisSufentanil for Spinal Analgesia during Cesarean Section Delivery: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials.
To investigate the effect of sufentanil for spinal analgesia during cesarean section. ⋯ Subarachnoid administration of sufentanil has no significant difference in the combined effect value of shortening the onset time of sensory block and motor block, prolonging the onset time of local anesthesia and the incidence of some adverse reactions (such as postoperative nausea, vomiting, hypotension, and tremors). However, the incidence of skin pruritus was significantly increased, and the difference was statistically significant. Because of this, the drug still needs to be used with caution in combination with the actual situation in clinical use.

Meta AnalysisMetformin Use and Mortality in Women with Ovarian Cancer: An Updated Meta-Analysis.
Previous observational studies and meta-analysis suggested a possible association between metformin use and reduced mortality in women with ovarian cancer (OC). However, clinical factors that may influence the relationship remain poorly evaluated. We performed an updated meta-analysis to systematically evaluate the above association and to observe the potential influences of study characteristics on the association. ⋯ Metformin use is associated with reduced mortality in women with OC, which may be independent of the diabetic status of the controls, timing of metformin use, or adjustment of BMI and concurrent medications. Clinical trials are needed to validate the potential benefits of metformin on survival of OC.

Randomized Controlled TrialVibegron for the Treatment of Patients with Dry and Wet Overactive Bladder: A Subgroup Analysis from the EMPOWUR Trial.
Overactive bladder (OAB) is characterized by urgency and frequency with (OAB wet) or without (OAB dry) urge urinary incontinence (UUI). In the phase 3 EMPOWUR trial, vibegron-a selective β 3-adrenergic receptor agonist for the treatment of OAB-significantly improved daily number of urgency episodes and micturitions vs. placebo (P < 0.01). These post hoc analyses aimed to compare the efficacy of vibegron vs. placebo in OAB dry and wet populations. ⋯ In this subgroup analysis from the EMPOWUR trial, vibegron was associated with significant reductions compared with placebo in urgency episodes and micturitions in both the OAB dry and wet populations, suggesting that vibegron is similarly efficacious for these endpoints in patients with and without UUI. This trial is registered with NCT03492281.

Randomized Controlled TrialPupil Diameter Changes after Anesthesia with Different Doses of Sufentanil under Ultrasound Monitoring.
This study aims to observe the changes in pupil diameter (PD) after anesthesia with different doses of sufentanil with the ultrasound method and observe whether pupil contraction is correlated with hemodynamic changes and bispectral index (BIS) values. ⋯ Ultrasound can become a new noninvasive method to monitor pupil changes during general anesthesia, and ultrasonic observation of pupil changes has great potential for individualized analgesia management in the perioperative period.

ReviewThe Effect of Short Sleep Duration on the Development of Asthma.
Asthma is regarded as a heterogeneous disease with chronic airway inflammation and reversible airway limitation. Asthma itself and recurrent attacks of asthma can decrease sleep duration and increase the prevalence of short sleep duration. Systemic low-grade inflammation and obesity caused by short sleep duration have been known for a long time, which potentially affect the development of asthma. ⋯ However, almost all studies are based on subjective but not objective sleep duration. In addition, the study on sleep duration and cause-specific mortality in patients with asthma is relatively scant. Considering the effect of short sleep duration on the development of asthma, we recommend that periodic sleep monitoring for asthmatic management is very necessary.
