Serum Hsa_circ_0005962 Is A Prognostic Biomarker of Paclitaxel Resistance in Nonsmall Cell Lung Cancer Treatment.
Tumor progression and the therapeutic resistance associated with cancer agents are thought to be modulated by circular RNAs (circRNAs); however, its mechanism associated with nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) is still undetermined. The following investigation aimed to evaluate the involvement of circRNAs with NSCLC. ⋯ The results of this investigation highlight that hsa_circ_0005962 induces chemoresistance in NSCLC patients and, therefore, can act as a physiological target to treat NSCLC.

Differentiation of Epileptic Brain Abnormalities among Neurological Patients at Taif Region Using MRI.
This study was conducted to assess the prevalence of epilepsy among different age groups and gender of neurological patients in the Taif region and define the most common brain lesion, affecting epileptic patients living in the Taif city using MRI. Data from 150 patients who were clinically diagnosed with epilepsy and had brain MRIs were analyzed using SPSS. Statistical significance was considered when the p value is 0.05. ⋯ Moreover, white matter lesions were most commonly found in the studied group (27.7%), followed by focal lesions, edema, and stroke with equal percentages (16.9%) and less commonly with congenital diseases (12%) and atrophic changes (9.6%). Epilepsy was more pronounced in females than in males at certain age groups. White matter lesions were identified as the most common lesion, presenting in epilepsy patients in the Taif city.

Observational StudyValidation of a Prediction Model for Intraoperative Hypothermia in Patients Receiving General Anesthesia.
There have been no fully validated tools for the rapid identification of surgical patients at risk of intraoperative hypothermia. The objective of this study was to validate the performance of a previously established prediction model in estimating the risk of intraoperative hypothermia in a prospective cohort. ⋯ The intraoperative hypothermia prediction model demonstrated possibly helpful discrimination and adequate calibration in our prospective validation. These findings suggest that the risk screening model could facilitate future perioperative temperature management.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the relationship between the oxidant-antioxidant status, endothelial dysfunction, lipid metabolism, and metabolic syndrome risk in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). ⋯ Oxidative stress and decreased antioxidant parameters in PCOS patients were correlated with hyperinsulinemia, hypertension, and dyslipidemia findings, and we think that this oxidative stress condition may contribute to metabolic syndrome and cardiovascular diseases in PCOS patients.

Early Diagnosis of Abnormal Left Ventricular Systolic Functions of Rare Pathogenic Titin Mutation Gene Carriers in FHCM by Three-Dimensional Speckle Tracking Echocardiography Combined with Gene Detection.
This study aimed to explore the early diagnosis of abnormal left ventricular systolic function of rare pathogenic titin (TTN) mutation gene carriers in familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (FHCM) by three-dimensional speckle tracking echocardiography (3D-STE) combined with gene detection. ⋯ There were 4 subjects diagnosed as asymptomatic TTN gene carriers with the mutation locus of Val135643Ile, and their GLS and partial RLS were significantly reduced; GLS had the better sensitivity and specificity than LVPWD, IVSD, and LVMI.
