Review Meta AnalysisAssociation between Genetic Polymorphisms and Risk of Kidney Posttransplant Diabetes Mellitus: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
The purpose of this study was to clarify the role of genetic factors on posttransplant diabetes mellitus (PTDM) risk. ⋯ The gene polymorphisms of TCF7L2 rs7903146, KCNQ1 rs2237892, and KCNJ11 rs5219 may predispose kidney transplant recipients to PTDM. Large sample size studies on diverse ethnic populations were warranted to confirm our findings.

Review Meta AnalysisOpium Use and Cancer Risk: A Comprehensive Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Observational Studies.
Epidemiological studies have reported inconsistent associations between opium use and cancer risk. We therefore conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to investigate the relationship between opium use and cancer risk. ⋯ Our findings showed that opium use, particularly in the form of teriak, is a risk factor for cancer.

Review Meta AnalysisPrenatal Alcohol Exposure and the Risk of Depression in Offspring: a Meta-Analysis.
Prenatal alcohol exposure (PAE) has been related to poor consequences of mental health in offspring. However, it remains unknown whether maternal alcohol drinking during pregnancy is associated with depression in the offspring. ⋯ Current evidence suggests that PAE may be a risk factor of depression in offspring.

Review Meta AnalysisRisk of Candida Infection and Serious Infections in Patients with Moderate-to-Severe Psoriasis Receiving Biologics: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials.
Biological agents used to treat moderate-to-severe plaque psoriasis have been associated with Candida infection and other serious infections. It is, however, necessary to verify whether biologic agents increase the risk of Candida infection and serious infections and whether these risks vary among biologics. ⋯ Our results indicated that anti-IL-17 agents, especially secukinumab, were associated with the increased risk of Candida infection. The clinically used biological agents did not increase the risk of serious infections.

Review Meta AnalysisAssociation of Adult Height with Cardiovascular Mortality: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Cohort Studies.
Epidemiological studies on the association between adult height and cardiovascular disease (CVD) mortality have provided conflicting findings. We examined the association between adult height and the risk of CVD mortality. ⋯ The present comprehensive meta-analysis provides evidence for an inverse association between adult height and the risk of CVD, CHD, and stroke mortality.
