Methadone is an opioid analgesic of step 3 of the World Health Organization (WHO) analgesic ladder. ⋯ Methadone is an important opioid analgesic at step 3 of the WHO analgesic ladder. Future controlled studies may focus on establishment of methadone equianalgesic dose ratio with other opioids and its role as the first strong opioid in comparative studies with analgesia, adverse effects and quality of life taken into consideration.

ReviewThe therapeutic effect of balneotherapy: evaluation of the evidence from randomised controlled trials.
Systematic review. ⋯ The available data suggest that balneotherapy may be truly associated with improvement in several rheumatological diseases. However, existing research is not sufficiently strong to draw firm conclusions.

Review Meta AnalysisIndirect comparisons of treatments based on systematic reviews of randomised controlled trials.
Randomised controlled trials are the most effective way to differentiate between the effects of competing interventions. However, head-to-head studies are unlikely to have been conducted for all competing interventions. ⋯ Use of either indirect comparison using a common comparator or MTC provides estimates for use in decision making, with the preferred methodology being dependent on the available data.
