Comorbidities and factors related to discontinuation of pharmacotherapy among outpatients with major depressive disorder.
Although many studies have researched adherence to pharmacotherapy among patients with major depressive disorder (MDD), the effects of chronic depression, anxiety comorbidities, migraine, and other factors on adherence have rarely been studied. This study investigated which comorbidities and factors independently predicted discontinuation of pharmacotherapy among psychiatric outpatients with MDD. ⋯ The impact of the duration of depression (chronic depression) on adherence may be more important than the severity of depression, anxiety comorbidities, and migraine. Education of MDD patients and society in general to improve understanding of MDD and antidepressants is needed to enhance adherence to pharmacotherapy.

From the third month of pregnancy to 1 year postpartum. Prevalence, incidence, recurrence, and new onset of depression. Results from the perinatal depression-research & screening unit study.
Perinatal depression is a particular challenge to clinicians, and its prevalence estimates are difficult to compare across studies. Furthermore, to our knowledge, there are no studies that systematically assessed the incidence of perinatal depression. The aim of this study is to estimate the prevalence, incidence, recurrence, and new onset of Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition, minor and major depression (mMD) in an unselected population of women recruited at the third month of pregnancy and followed up until the 12th month postpartum. ⋯ Our postpartum prevalence figures, which are lower than those reported in the literature, may reflect treatment during the study, suggesting that casting a multiprofessional network around women in need of support may be potentially useful for reducing the effects of this disorder on the mother and the newborn child. Furthermore, our results indicate that women with a history of depression have a 2-fold risk of developing mMD in the perinatal period.

Assessing pain in depression: what do ratings on unidimensional pain scales really mean?
The study aims to determine which dimensions of pain-somatosensory, affective, or evaluative-would predict unidimensional pain scores in patients with major depressive disorder (MDD); compare the results with findings in cancer and chronic musculoskeletal pain patients; and examine the relationship between pain complaints and psychopathology. ⋯ Our data suggest that pain and emotional symptoms in MDD are not entirely related. In cases in which pain symptoms are severe or remain persistent despite treatment of depression, specific strategy targeting pain may be needed.

Comparative StudyInvestigation of factors associated to crossover from anorexia nervosa restricting type (ANR) and anorexia nervosa binge-purging type (ANBP) to bulimia nervosa and comparison of bulimia nervosa patients with or without previous ANR or ANBP.
To characterize factors associated to diagnostic crossover from anorexia nervosa restricting type (ANR) and anorexia nervosa binge-purging type (ANBP) to bulimia nervosa (BN) and to compare BN individuals with initial ANR or ANBP to subjects with stable BN. ⋯ Different clinical and personality factors seem to be associated to crossover from ANR and ANBP to BN. Moreover, BN with initial ANR seems to differ clinically from stable BN. These findings may have therapeutic and prognostic implications.

Perceived parental rearing style in childhood: internal structure and concurrent validity on the Egna Minnen Beträffande Uppfostran--Child Version in clinical settings.
We provide the first validation data of the Spanish version of the Egna Minnen Beträffande Uppfostran--Child Version (EMBU-C) in a clinical context. The EMBU-C is a 41-item self-report questionnaire that assesses perceived parental rearing style in children, comprising 4 subscales (rejection, emotional warmth, control attempts/overprotection, and favoring subjects). ⋯ The Spanish version of EMBU-C can be used with psychometric guarantees to identify rearing style in psychiatric outpatients because evidences of quality in this setting match those obtained in community samples.
