Multicenter Study Comparative StudyMulticenter observational study on slow-cooling oocyte cryopreservation: clinical outcome.
To evaluate the efficacy of oocyte cryopreservation by a single slow-cooling protocol involving sucrose (0.2 mol/L) in the freezing solution. ⋯ Under the conditions tested, the clinical outcome of oocyte slow-cooling cryopreservation is reduced compared with fresh cycles. Nevertheless, in cases of inapplicability of embryo cryopreservation, oocyte cryopreservation should be offered to patients with surplus oocytes.

Randomized Controlled TrialA randomized controlled study comparing harmonic versus electrosurgery in laparoscopic myomectomy.
To compare the effectiveness and safety of harmonic scalpel versus electrosurgery to reduce blood loss during laparoscopic myomectomy. ⋯ The use of the harmonic scalpel for laparoscopic myomectomy is associated with low total operative time, low intraoperative blood loss, and low postoperative pain, with no increase in surgical difficulty.

Randomized Controlled TrialComparison of effects of 3 mg drospirenone plus 20 μg ethinyl estradiol alone or combined with metformin or cyproterone acetate on classic metabolic cardiovascular risk factors in nonobese women with polycystic ovary syndrome.
To evaluate the effects of a pill with drospirenone (3 mg) plus ethinyl E(2) (20 μg) (DRP/20EE) alone or associated with metformin or cyproterone acetate (CPA) on some metabolic cardiovascular risk factors in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). ⋯ Treatment with DRP/EE20 improved insulin sensitivity in hirsute women with PCOS, with no deterioration of lipid profile. This effect was not ameliorated by the addition of metformin. The positive metabolic effects of DRP are abolished by the concomitant use of CPA.

Analysis of 2,386 consecutive cycles of in vitro fertilization or intracytoplasmic sperm injection using autologous oocytes in women aged 40 years and above.
To estimate the live-birth and miscarriage rates in 1-year age increments for women aged ≥40 years undergoing in vitro fertilization or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI-IVF) with autologous oocytes. ⋯ The success rate of ICSI-IVF as measured by live-birth rate per initiated cycle was statistically significantly higher for women aged <43 years as compared with women aged ≥43 years. Once women have attained age 43 years, alternative methods such as oocyte donation cycles or previously cryopreserved embryos are likely to be more effective.
