Case ReportsLower limb compartment syndrome as a complication of laparoscopic laser surgery for severe endometriosis.
To report a case of lower limb compartment syndrome (LLCS) during long duration laparoscopic interventions for resection of extensive endometriosis, and evaluate the efficiency of a novel patient positioning method to reduce its prevalence. ⋯ Lower limb compartment syndrome can be prevented in patients undergoing long duration multidisciplinary laparoscopic resection of extensive endometriosis by a novel sequential positioning method of patients before and during surgery.

Elevated ghrelin levels in the peritoneal fluid of patients with endometriosis: associations with vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and inflammatory cytokines.
To study ghrelin concentrations in the peritoneal fluid of women with endometriosis and of control women without pelvic pathology and its associations with the levels of proinflammatory cytokines and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF). ⋯ The results of the present study show that endometriosis is associated with increased peritoneal ghrelin levels. The association between ghrelin and endometriotic lesion vascularization remains to be elucidated.

Uterine synechiae after bipolar hysteroscopic resection of submucosal myomas in patients with infertility.
To determine the rate of uterine synechiae after bipolar hysteroscopic myomectomy in patients suffering from infertility. ⋯ The incidence of uterine synechiae after bipolar hysteroscopic resection of fibroids was 7.5%. This appears to be lower than that reported in previous studies using monopolar energy. Bipolar hysteroscopic myomectomy may be a better option for infertile women.

Does dilation and curettage versus expectant management for spontaneous abortion in patients undergoing in vitro fertilization affect subsequent endometrial development?
In in vitro fertilization patients, treatment of spontaneous abortion with dilation and curettage (D&C) versus expectant management has no long-term effect on subsequent endometrial development, as measured by change in endometrial thickness. A transient reduction in endometrial thickness was found within the first 6 months after D&C, which is a novel finding, but it is likely to have little or no effect on pregnancy rates given the small absolute effect on endometrial thickness.

Review Case ReportsPatient with pelvic pains: retroperitoneal fibrosis or pelvic endometriosis? A case report and review of literature.
To describe how a hydronephrosis can lead to a difficult differential diagnosis between endometriosis and retroperitoneal fibrosis. ⋯ The cause of hydronephrosis could be a physiologic hydroureteronephrosis, which is the most common cause of dilatation of the urinary tract in pregnancy. The pain symptoms of the patients seemed to be linked to endometriosis and not to retroperitoneal fibrosis. Magnetic resonance imaging sometimes does not enable a correct diagnosis between these two pathologies. Fertile women with suspected fibrosis should undergo a diagnostic laparoscopy by an expert surgeon in retroperitoneal surgery.
