Randomized Controlled TrialRandomized controlled trial comparing superovulation with letrozole versus recombinant follicle-stimulating hormone combined with intrauterine insemination for couples with unexplained infertility who had failed clomiphene citrate stimulation and intrauterine insemination.
To compare the efficacy of letrozole to recombinant FSH for ovarian stimulation combined with IUI in a group of patients that had failed to conceive after clomiphene citrate (CC) and IUI. ⋯ Ovarian stimulation with letrozole is associated with acceptable PRs compared with gonadotropin with significant less cost, risks, and patient inconvenience.

Comparative StudyCognitive development of singletons born after intracytoplasmic sperm injection compared with in vitro fertilization and natural conception.
To investigate cognitive development of singletons conceived by intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) at 5-8 years of age. ⋯ In the relatively limited sample investigated, cognitive development among ICSI singletons was lower than among IVF and NC singletons. Infertility factors or unmeasured confounders may play a role.

Randomized Controlled TrialTibolone reverses the cognitive effects caused by leuprolide acetate administration, improving mood and quality of life in patients with symptomatic uterine leiomyomas.
To investigate the effects of tibolone co-administration with GnRH agonist treatment in terms of cognition, mood, and quality of life. ⋯ Tibolone administration reverses the deleterious effect on cognition that is caused by leuprolide acetate depot and improves mood and quality of life in patients who receive GnRH agonist for symptomatic uterine leiomyomas.

A polymorphism of the CYP17 gene related to sex steroid metabolism is associated with female-to-male but not male-to-female transsexualism.
To assess the association between transsexualism and allele and genotype frequencies of the common cytochrome P450 (CYP) 17 -34 T>C single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP). ⋯ These data support CYP17 as a candidate gene of FtM transsexualism and indicate that loss of a female-specific CYP17 T -34C allele distribution pattern is associated with FtM transsexualism.
